October 18, 1965 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works & Safety was held on <br />Monday, October 18, 1965 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes <br />of the last regular meeting were read and approved. No vouchers were <br />approved for payment. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT: SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( OPEN BIAS - DEMOLITION ) <br />Richard Liszewski appeared before the Board with sealed bids for the <br />demolition of the following sub -standard structures: <br />Property located at 744 N. Allen Street, owned by William P. and F. <br />Dugdale. <br />Ralph Williams Demolition - including water shut-off $846.00 <br />19947 W . Lynwood <br />South Bend, Ind. <br />• <br />Warner Wrecking <br />Demolition - including water shut-off <br />$1,0000 <br />C53 <br />Elkhart, Indiana <br />Both bids were in order <br />and valid bids. The bid of Ralph Williams, <br />being the lowest and best bid, it was awarded to Ralph Williams. <br />Property located at 324 <br />S. Taylor Street, owned by Lillian DeVon. <br />Warner Wrecking <br />Demolition - including water shut-off <br />$675.00 <br />Elkhart, Indiana . <br />Ralph Williams <br />Demolition - including water shut-off <br />$938.00 <br />19947 W. Lynwood <br />South Bend. Ind. <br />Both bids were in order <br />and valid bids. The bid of Warner Wrecking <br />being the lowest and best bid, it was awarded to Warner Wrecking. <br />For property located at <br />820 Oak Street: <br />The Board of Public Safety having heretofore advertised for bids for <br />the demolition of an accessory building (garage) at 820 Oak Street, <br />and the Board having received no bids in response to subh public notice <br />and having been informed that the Warner Wrecking Company will remove <br />said structure for the sum of $65.00 over-all cost to the City, said <br />bid is hereby awarded to ;Varner Wrecking Company for $65.00. <br />SUB -STANDARD DIVISION• HEARINGS <br />Mr. Liszewski advised the Board that Mr. F. Conner, owner of property <br />located at 420 S. St. Joseph Street had requested an extension of 14 <br />days to allow him sufficient time to board building up, such extension <br />was granted by the Board for this purpose. <br />With reference to property located at 307 E. Paris Street, owned by <br />Mr. Minkow, residing in California and represented locally by Mr. Wm. <br />Morris, Mr. Liszewski advised the Board that Mr. Minkow had indicated, <br />through Mr. Morris, that he would repair structure but has not as yet <br />done so. Mr. Liszewski requested permission to post building as sub- <br />standard. <br />After hearing Mr. Liszewski, the Board requested that he contact Mr. <br />Minkow through Mr. Morris and inquire whether he intends to repair <br />the building. <br />Mr. Liszewski reported that property located at 102 N. Adams, owned <br />by the Victor and Bessie DeFrees Estate is presently open and vacant. <br />
