October 11, 1965 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Safety was held on Monday, <br />October �1, 1965 at 10:00 A.M. Messrs. James A. Bickel and Lloyd S. <br />Taylor were present. Minutes of the last regular meeting were read and <br />approved . No vouchers were. -.approved. or ordered paid to the various <br />suppliers. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARD DIVISION ( HEARINGS ) <br />Comes now Richard Liszewski, Director of the Sub -Standard Division and <br />advises the Board that property located at 134 N. Olive Street, owned <br />by Anderson Jones has not been brought up to Code as requested. Mr. <br />Liszewski further stated that the yard is used as a parking place for <br />old automobiles, that debris is on the front porch, that the rear of <br />the house is in need of new siding and that shelving is stacked on the <br />property. <br />Mr. Jones appeared before the Board and informed the Board that the <br />automobiles do not belong to him, but to his neighbors who park the <br />cars in the yard. He advised the Board that he hesitated to tell his <br />C-) neighbors to move the cars and thus cause neighborhood friction, but <br />tJ stated that the Police would be advised to order the cars moved. <br />He further stated that he had purchased_ the necessary materials for the <br />repair of the siding and had engaged a contractor to clean up the <br />place, as directed by the Sub -Standard Division. The shelving was <br />stored on the premises as a temporary measure but would be moved to <br />another location. <br />He requested an extension of 30 days in order to complete the work he <br />has started. <br />Request granted and Mr. Liszewski was directed to check on the progress <br />in 30 days. <br />Mr. Liszewski submitted a progress report on property owned by Rev. <br />Luther Turley, located at 505 E. Ohio Street. An inspection made on <br />February g, 1965 showed that nothing had been done to bring property <br />up to standard. Rev. Turley was requested to come before the -Board to <br />show cause why the orders had been ignored. Photographs were submitted. <br />Rev. Turley advised the Board that the house is now vacant and requested <br />two weeks extension to make the repairs. <br />Request granted. <br />With reference to property located at 310=3102 E. Pennsylvania, the owner, <br />Mr. Richard-Bartel,appeared before the Board and advised the Board that <br />he was working on the house now and that before he starts work on the <br />interior, the tenants will have to be given notice to move. In order <br />to accomplish this, Mr. Bartel requested an extension of 30 days.. <br />Request granted. <br />Mr. Liszewski advised the Board that property owned by Clayton and Opal <br />R06der, located at 410 E. Pennsylvania Avenue will be vacant. A request <br />of 30 days extension before any further action is taken on this property <br />was granted by the Board. <br />Mr. Liszewski requested an extension of 30 days on property owned by <br />John and Flora Belle Riddle, located at 509,21- E. Pennsylvania Avenue. <br />Request granted. <br />
