June 14, 1965 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works& Safety was held on Monday, <br />June 14, 1965 at 10:00 A.M. All members were present. Minutes of the <br />last regular meeting were read and approved. Vouchers were approved and <br />ordered paid to the various suppliers. <br />The owner of property located at 330-330z S. Michigan Street, having <br />decided to demolish said building, opening cf bids,for such demolition <br />by the City was cancelled. <br />The Clerk of the Board advised the Board that no bids for demolition <br />were received by the Board of Public Works & Safety. <br />COMPLAINT: TRUCK TRAFFIC ON SOUTH BEND AVENUE ( D. KELLY ) <br />A letter of complaint from Daniel J. Kelly, 619 N. St. Louis Boulevard, <br />was received by the Board. <br />Mr. Kelly advised the Board that truck traffic continued to use the part <br />of South Bend Avenue that was formerly part of Route 23 instead of following <br />the new route established by the State of Indiana. <br />After reviewing the letter, the matter was referred to the -Chief of Police <br />with instructions that this complaint be checked and that the Jaw fbr-^truck <br />route as outlined b; the State be enforced. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER: INSTALLATIONS <br />Clem Hazinski, Traffic Director, submitted a report showing the following <br />installations, previously approved by the Board <br />4-way Stop on Hastings & 30th Street removed. Hastings now stops for 30th. <br />10 No Parking This Side of Street signs & posts on north side of 300-700 <br />W. Sample. <br />TRAFFIC ENGINEER• APPROVAL OF INSTALLATIONS <br />Following the recommendation of Clem Hazinski, Traffic Director, the <br />following change: in traffic regulations was approved: <br />In order to expedite the movement of through and right turn traffic, <br />Mr. Hazinskirecommended that parking be prohibited at the following <br />locations: <br />1. West side of Main Street from Sample Street north to first alley <br />intersection. This is partially restricted at present time. <br />2. East side of Olive Street from Lincoln Way West to a point 95 <br />feet south. <br />REQUEST: STREETLIGHT ( ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT ) <br />A request for a street light at the alley on Harrison Avenue between <br />VanBuren and California Avenue was received by the Board, examined and <br />referred to Eugene Radecki, Electric Department Superintenden%.for <br />investigation and recommendation. <br />ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT: REQUEST FOR -MILITARY -LEAVE ( WEGENKA & BRASSELL) <br />Following the request from Eugene Radecki, Electrical Department <br />Superintendent, the Board approved Military Leave for Michael Wagenka <br />and Timothy Brassell of the Electrical Department to enter Uamp;McC6y <br />Wisconsin from June 26 to July 10, 1965. <br />u <br />1 <br />E <br />
