10 <br />street light on North Notre Dame Avenue, 900 block, at the intersection <br />of an alley (east) on a street light pole was submitted to the Board, <br />and referred to the Electrical Department for investigation and recommen- <br />dation. <br />,r. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT: REQUEST FOR OFFICERS TO ATTEND A .Q RESERVE D%TTY <br />The Board approved the request of the following police officers to be <br />absent from duty in order to attend annual Army Reserve Duty: <br />1. Officer E. I. Friend - Active Duty at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin from <br />June 26 to July 10, 1965. <br />2. Officer James E. Robison - Active Duty at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin <br />from June 26 to July 10,-1965. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT: ATTEND CONFERENCE ( CAPT HARM ) <br />The Board approved a request from Captain Orson E. Harman, to attend <br />the Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police Conference at Terre Haute, <br />Indiana from June 13 through June 16, 1965. Attendance will be in <br />the interest of the training program of the South Bend Police Dept. <br />SPECIAL POLICE Mug <br />The Board approved Special Police Bonds for Mary Batchelor and LeRoy <br />H. Batchelor,.employees of the Hum <br />ane Society. Commissions have <br />been approved previously. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT: APPLICATION <br />An application for the Police Department from Leon Kendall was accepted <br />and ordered placed on file. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT: APPLICATION <br />An application for the Fire Department from Donald Francis Karczewski <br />was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br />CCNPLUNT: ROCKY'S RESTAURANT - BURNING OF DEBRIS <br />A complaint against Rocky's Restaurant from Mr. and Mrs. Sellers of <br />815 George Avenue was submitted to the Board. Mr. and Mrs. Sellers <br />addressed a letter to the Board in which they stated that the owner <br />of the restaurant, Mr. R. Papandria, burned trash and debris from <br />the restaurant in a huge tank in back of the restaurant which was <br />a nuisance and which violates a City Ordinance. The containeW is <br />not covered. <br />Mr. DuComb directed that a letter be addressed to Mr. Papandria, <br />asking that he contact Mr. DuComb to discuss this situation. <br />WEIGHTS & MEASURES DEPARTMENT:- ATTEND MEETING <br />Mr. Bert Cichowicz, City Sealer of the Department of Weights & -- <br />Measures, having requested of the Board permission to attend the 50th <br />Annual Conference of Weights & Measures conducted by the Bureau of <br />Standards, in Washington, D.C. from June 21 to June 25, 1965 said <br />permission is hereby granted. <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting <br />was adjourned at 10:50 A.M. <br />- <br />hairman <br />A est: Richard J ck, Clerk <br />
