February 24, 1970 <br />A meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at <br />9:30 A.M. on February 24, 1970, with all members present. The <br />minutes of the previous meeting .were reviewed and approved. <br />OPEN BIDS -- Temporary Loan.Warrants <br />This being the date set for receiving bids for temporary loan <br />warrants, proofs of publication in the Tri-County News and South <br />Bend Tribune on February 13 and 20, 1970, were read and found to <br />be sufficient. The following bids were opened: <br />American National Bank and Trust Co, at 4.95% interest <br />National Bank and Trust Co. at 4.87/ interest <br />First Bank and Trust Co..at 5.20% interest <br />St. Joseph Bank and Trust Co. at 5.20% interest <br />All bids were on the `full amount of $700, 000'.00. It was moved, <br />seconded 'and unanimously carried that contract be awarded to National <br />Bank and Trust Company on their low bid of 4.87/ interest. <br />OPEN BIDS -- Two -wheel motorcycles for Police Department <br />This being the date set for receiving bids, the following bid was <br />received and found to be in order with signed non -collusion affidavit <br />and bid bond-. Proofs of publication in the Tri-County,News and South <br />Bend Tribune on February 13 and 20, 1970 were read and found to be <br />proper. <br />McDaniels's Harley-Davidson, Inc., for three 1970 Harley- <br />Davidson motorcycles Model FLPF at $2350.00 each -- <br />$7050.00 <br />Option was not bid. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried this bid was <br />accepted subject to the availability of funds. <br />APPLICATION AND DECLARATION FOR RETIREMENT -- Fire Department <br />.It.was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the following <br />be granted retirement: <br />Alex Niespodziany appointed Jan. 1, 1940 -- Retirement date Feb.26, 1970 <br />Jordan C. Grams appointed Oct. 24, 1949 -- Retirment date Feb.22, 1970 <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT APPOINTMENTS <br />Upon recommendation of Fire Chief Joseph Zurat it was moved, seconded <br />and unanimously carried that the following be appointed to the Fire <br />Department effective February 24, 1970: <br />Robert J. Bradley, 404 N. Pine St.,. Mishawaka <br />Karl A. Williamson, 833 S. 25th St., South Bend <br />Ronald Wisniewski, 2629 Westmoor St., South Bend <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT <br />Application of Raymond M Hayes for appointment to the Fire Dept. <br />was filed with the Board and 'referred to the Personnel Dept. for <br />further processing. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT -- APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT <br />Application of Delmer Wayne Noyer for appointment to the Police <br />Dept. was filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Dept. <br />for further processing. <br />
