February 24, 1970 A meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 A.M. on February 24, 1970, with all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting .were reviewed and approved. OPEN BIDS -- Temporary Loan.Warrants This being the date set for receiving bids for temporary loan warrants, proofs of publication in the Tri-County News and South Bend Tribune on February 13 and 20, 1970, were read and found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened: American National Bank and Trust Co, at 4.95% interest National Bank and Trust Co. at 4.87/ interest First Bank and Trust Co..at 5.20% interest St. Joseph Bank and Trust Co. at 5.20% interest All bids were on the `full amount of $700, 000'.00. It was moved, seconded 'and unanimously carried that contract be awarded to National Bank and Trust Company on their low bid of 4.87/ interest. OPEN BIDS -- Two -wheel motorcycles for Police Department This being the date set for receiving bids, the following bid was received and found to be in order with signed non -collusion affidavit and bid bond-. Proofs of publication in the Tri-County,News and South Bend Tribune on February 13 and 20, 1970 were read and found to be proper. McDaniels's Harley-Davidson, Inc., for three 1970 Harley- Davidson motorcycles Model FLPF at $2350.00 each -- $7050.00 Option was not bid. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried this bid was accepted subject to the availability of funds. APPLICATION AND DECLARATION FOR RETIREMENT -- Fire Department .It.was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the following be granted retirement: Alex Niespodziany appointed Jan. 1, 1940 -- Retirement date Feb.26, 1970 Jordan C. Grams appointed Oct. 24, 1949 -- Retirment date Feb.22, 1970 FIRE DEPARTMENT APPOINTMENTS Upon recommendation of Fire Chief Joseph Zurat it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the following be appointed to the Fire Department effective February 24, 1970: Robert J. Bradley, 404 N. Pine St.,. Mishawaka Karl A. Williamson, 833 S. 25th St., South Bend Ronald Wisniewski, 2629 Westmoor St., South Bend FIRE DEPARTMENT APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT Application of Raymond M Hayes for appointment to the Fire Dept. was filed with the Board and 'referred to the Personnel Dept. for further processing. POLICE DEPARTMENT -- APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT Application of Delmer Wayne Noyer for appointment to the Police Dept. was filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Dept. for further processing.
