2/9/70 <br />Il <br />STREET DEPARTMENT -- Request for permission to advertise for <br />street and alley materials <br />It was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that permission <br />be granted to advertise for street and alley materials for 1970 <br />for the following items: <br />Item 1 - 35,OOO tons Hot Asphaltic Concrete <br />Item 2 - 12,000 tons Limestone Aggregate <br />Item 3 - 275,000 gallons Emulsified Asphalt <br />Item 4 - 220,000 gallons Dust Control Oil <br />Item 5 - 40,000 tons various Gravels & Ice Control Sand <br />Item 6 - 900 tons Street Patching Material <br />Item 7 - 250 C.Y. of Ready -Mix Concrete (Class A) <br />100 C.Y. of Ready -Mix Concrete (Class B) <br />The Clerk was directed to publish notice in the South Bend <br />Tribune and Tri-County News on February 20 and February 27, 1970 <br />for bids to be received March 9, 1970. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT -- Division of Sub -Standard Buildings <br />J. W. Adamson, Director, appeared before the Board and the follow- <br />ing matters were discussed: <br />524 E. Broadway: Mr. Earl Kime, representing Portage Realty Co., <br />the owners of this building, appeared and requested additional <br />time to close up the building. It was moved, seconded and unani- <br />mously carried that this matter be continued for one week to <br />permit this to be done. <br />712 E. Madison: Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously <br />carried, the owner, the American National Bank, was allowed two <br />weeks in which to show evidence for a private contract for the <br />demolition of this structure. <br />830 S. Marietta: Owners, Basil and Velma Ziglear appeared and <br />did not contest demolition. Upon motion made, seconded and unani- <br />mously carried,the Board authorized the Division of Sub -Standard <br />Buildings to seek bids for the demolition of the structure. <br />2625 W. Linden: Attorney Henry Hoover requested by letter a one;.-' <br />week time extension due to the illness of Sam Caparell, the owner. <br />It was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that this request <br />be granted. <br />1205 W. Colfax: Bernard Donahue, one of the owners, appeared. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board <br />continued this matter for two weeks to enable the owner to pro- <br />vide evidence of a contract for the demolition of this structure. <br />Upon motions made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board <br />authorized the Division of Sub -Standard Buildings to seek bids <br />for de.molitianl-.of eacYi'of 'tie buldings on properties listed below: <br />217 N .
