1/5/70 <br />REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO ADVERTISE FOR CAPACITORS FOR MUNICIPAL <br />SERVICES FACILITY <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the request of the City <br />Engineer for permission to advertise for bids for the furnishing of all <br />material and labor required to provide a suitable capacitor installation for <br />power factor correction for the Municipal Services Facility, was approved. <br />And the Cl6rk was directed to publish notice on January 9 and January 16, <br />1970, in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News for bids to be <br />taken on January 19, 1970. <br />CONTRACT AWARDED FOR JANITORIAL SERVICES - MUNICIPAL SERVICES FACILITY <br />All bids received on December 15, 1969, for janitorial services for 1970 <br />at Municipal Services Facility having been reviewed, the Board, on December <br />301* 1969, approved the award of contract to the ABC Janitor Service for <br />the period 1/l/70 through 3/31/70, with option for the full year of 1970 to <br />be exercised by February 28, 1970, and is hereby confirmed and made a part <br />of these minutes. <br />O <br />1970 PARKING METER DEPARTMENT BUDGET APPROVED <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimouslu carried, the 1970 budget for <br />the Parking Meter Department as submitted by the City Controller in the <br />U sum of $138,896.00 was approved by the Board, subject to a change in the <br />account number and the description now called 80 A. <br />REQUEST OF BUILDING COMMISSIONER TO ATTEND CONFERENCE - APPROVED <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved <br />the request of Forrest ,R. West, Building Commissioner, to attend the mid- <br />year.annual code changes hearing of the Builders Building Officials Confer- <br />ence of America at Lexington, Kentucky January 8 to January 11, 1970. <br />REQUEST OF SOUTH BEND CIVIC THEATRE INC. TO RENEW LEASE FOR FIRE <br />STATION # <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request of South Bend Civic <br />Theatre, Inc., to renew its lease for the Fire Station #6 for another <br />year was approved by the Board and referred to the Legal Department for <br />preparation of lease. <br />COMPLAINT OF ILLEGAL PARKING - S. LAWRENCE WEBB <br />The complaint of illegal parking at 1101 S. Michigan Street by S. Lawrence <br />Webb, 421 N. College Street, South Bend, Indiana, was referred to the <br />Traffic Engineering Department for investigation. <br />CHANGE IN PARKING RATES - A-1 PARKING COMPANY <br />Notice of a change in parking rates from the A-1 Parking Company, 125 W. <br />Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, effective February 1, 1970, was <br />reviewed and ordered filed. Such changes being as follows: <br />F;1tst half hour - from 25� to 35C <br />Second half hour - from 20� to 15� <br />Each additional hour - from 20C: to 15� <br />TEMPORARY ENCROACHMENT - RIGHT OF WAY ON NORTHSIDE BOULEVARD <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />recommendation of Traffic Engineering for a temporary encroachment of right <br />of way on Northside Boulevard, just west of Notre Dame Avenue, where a <br />locker plant and plumbing supply warehouse are located, upon the condition <br />that a hold harmless bond is filed with the Building Commissioner. <br />(Sollitt Construction Company, owner of the building, having agreed to <br />construct a new loading dock. <br />
