11/17/69 <br />NO BIDS RECEIVED - TWO -WHEEL (SOLO) MOTORCYCLE FOR POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />This being the date'set for receiving bids for one two -wheel (solo) motorcycle <br />for the Police Department, the Clerk tendered proofs of publication in the <br />South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News on November 7 and November 14, 1969, <br />which were read and found to be proper. ' <br />No bids having been received, it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried <br />that the Police Department be authorized to seek quotations on the open <br />market for one'•ltwo=wheel-(solo) motorcycle, such quotations to be approved <br />by the Board of Public Works and Safety before acceptance. <br />APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT AS SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER - LILLIE MAE KEEYS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously' carried, the Board approved the <br />appointment of Lillie Mae Keeys as a special police officer for Robertson's <br />Department Store. <br />MONTHLY REPORT FOR OCTOBER - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Statistical report of the Police Department for October,'1969, was reviewed <br />by the Board and ordered filed. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />J. W. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the <br />following matters were taken up: <br />125 N. Adams Street. Judith Ann James did not appear before the Board as re- <br />quested, and Mr. Adamson reported he had heard nothing from her. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was <br />authorized to seek bids for demolition of the structure at 125 N. Adams Street, <br />subject to the availability of funds. <br />217 W. Woodside. Mr. Adamson reported this property is still standing and open. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director <br />was authorized to seek bids for demolition of the structure automatically if <br />the structure is not down in two weeks. <br />740 Frances Street. Mr. Adamson reported nothing has been done to rehabilitate <br />this property. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter <br />was continued one week, and the Sub -Standards Director was directed to notify <br />the new owners, by certified mail, to appear before the Board on November 24, <br />1969. <br />121-122 S. Chapin Street. Mr. Adamson reported the property has been secured. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter was continued <br />indefinitely and the Sub -Standards Director was directed to keep the property <br />under surveillance. <br />810 W. Jefferson. Mr. Adamson stated nothing further has been heard from the <br />owner of this property. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, <br />the Sub -Standards Director was granted permission to demolish the half of the <br />garage on this property, contract for demolition having been awarded July 28, <br />1969, to A & J Demolition Company on its low bid of $475.85. <br />Demolition bids opened: <br />This being the date set, bids for demolition of the following properties were <br />opened. Non collusion affidavits were examined and found to be proper. Bids <br />were: <br />O'Neal Trucking Co. $613.00 <br />Vanek Excavating Co. 520.00 <br />Bryant Excavating Co. 765.00 <br />A & J Demolition Co. 535.00 <br />B & J Demolition Co. 635.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, contract for demolition of <br />the structure at 302 E. Keasey Street was awarded to John E. Vanek, Vanek <br />Excavating Co., on his low bid of $520.00. subject to availability of funds. <br />
