90.E .. <br />November 10, 1969 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 <br />A.M., on Noyembbr 10, 196d9, with all members present. The minutes of the last <br />meeting were reviewed an approved. <br />APPLICATION - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The application of Willie Pates for appointment to the Police Department was <br />filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further process- <br />. <br />ing. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT- SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />Mr. J. W. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the <br />following matters were taken up <br />1319 W. Colfax. Myrtle Steele did not appear as requested. Mr. Adamson <br />stated nothing had been heard from Mrs. Steele, and that the house is open. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director <br />was granted permission to advertise for bids for demolition of the property at <br />1319 W. Colfax, as an emergency matter. <br />V: 302. E. Keasey St. Olive B.Green did not appear as requested. Mr. Adamson <br />reported this building has been vacated and that there have been two fires, and <br />that the place has been vandalized. Upon motion made seconded and unanimously <br />carried, the Sub -Standards Director was granted permission to advertise for bids <br />for demolition of the property, subject to the availability of funds. <br />701 Marietta Street. Neither Woodrow nor Emma Rose appeared before the Board as <br />requested. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards <br />Director was granted permission to advertise for bids for demolition of the <br />property, subject to the availability of funds for such demolition. <br />125 N. Adams St. DeWitt Hunter, administrator of the estate of Henrietta Harris <br />(owner of the property),appeared before the Board,and stated Judith Ann James, <br />daughter and only heir of Henrietta Harris, is aware of the condition of the <br />house but has done nothing about it. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously <br />carried, the matter was continued one week, and the Clerk was directed to notify <br />Judith Ann James by certified mail to appear before the Board on November 17, <br />1969. , <br />1022 S. Carroll and 301 E. Keasey (corner house). Upon motion made, seconded <br />and unanimously carried, the Board granted permission for the Sub -Standards <br />Director to advertise for bids for demolition of the structure at 1022 S. Carroll <br />Street and 301 E. Keasey Street subject to funds being available. <br />611 Kalorama. Neither Amon L. nor Alice Adell Loy appeared before the Board as <br />requested. Upon motion made,seconded and unanimously carried, the Board granted <br />permission for the Sub -Standards Director to advertise for bids for demolition of <br />the structures at 611 Kalorama Street, subject to funds being available. <br />1301 S. 29th Street. Franklin H. Glasco did not appear before the Board as re- <br />quested. Mr. Adamson reported that a fire last month destroyed the building <br />and that it should be demolished. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously <br />carried, the Sub -Standards Director was granted permission to advertise for bids <br />for demolition of the structure as an emergency matter. <br />917i N. Hill Street. The owner of the property appeared before the Board <br />and stated that the structure is closed, and that they have decided to repair <br />the building. Mrs. Zalas stated that her son, soon to be home from Service, <br />will do part of the work and will see that it is completed. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and unanimously carried, the matter was continued 90 days to permit <br />the owner to rehabilitate the building, contingent upon the structure remaining <br />closed during this time. <br />2502 S. Michigan. Mr. Adamson reported this property has now been demolished. <br />1123 E. Donald Street. Mr. Adamson stated the property is presently closed, <br />but nothing has been done to rehabilitate it. It was moved, sedonded and <br />unanimously carried that the matter be continued for 60 days so long as the <br />structure is kept closed. <br />
