90.E .. November 10, 1969 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 A.M., on Noyembbr 10, 196d9, with all members present. The minutes of the last meeting were reviewed an approved. APPLICATION - POLICE DEPARTMENT The application of Willie Pates for appointment to the Police Department was filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further process- . ing. BUILDING DEPARTMENT- SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION Mr. J. W. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the following matters were taken up 1319 W. Colfax. Myrtle Steele did not appear as requested. Mr. Adamson stated nothing had been heard from Mrs. Steele, and that the house is open. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was granted permission to advertise for bids for demolition of the property at 1319 W. Colfax, as an emergency matter. V: 302. E. Keasey St. Olive B.Green did not appear as requested. Mr. Adamson reported this building has been vacated and that there have been two fires, and that the place has been vandalized. Upon motion made seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was granted permission to advertise for bids for demolition of the property, subject to the availability of funds. 701 Marietta Street. Neither Woodrow nor Emma Rose appeared before the Board as requested. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was granted permission to advertise for bids for demolition of the property, subject to the availability of funds for such demolition. 125 N. Adams St. DeWitt Hunter, administrator of the estate of Henrietta Harris (owner of the property),appeared before the Board,and stated Judith Ann James, daughter and only heir of Henrietta Harris, is aware of the condition of the house but has done nothing about it. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter was continued one week, and the Clerk was directed to notify Judith Ann James by certified mail to appear before the Board on November 17, 1969. , 1022 S. Carroll and 301 E. Keasey (corner house). Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board granted permission for the Sub -Standards Director to advertise for bids for demolition of the structure at 1022 S. Carroll Street and 301 E. Keasey Street subject to funds being available. 611 Kalorama. Neither Amon L. nor Alice Adell Loy appeared before the Board as requested. Upon motion made,seconded and unanimously carried, the Board granted permission for the Sub -Standards Director to advertise for bids for demolition of the structures at 611 Kalorama Street, subject to funds being available. 1301 S. 29th Street. Franklin H. Glasco did not appear before the Board as re- quested. Mr. Adamson reported that a fire last month destroyed the building and that it should be demolished. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was granted permission to advertise for bids for demolition of the structure as an emergency matter. 917i N. Hill Street. The owner of the property appeared before the Board and stated that the structure is closed, and that they have decided to repair the building. Mrs. Zalas stated that her son, soon to be home from Service, will do part of the work and will see that it is completed. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter was continued 90 days to permit the owner to rehabilitate the building, contingent upon the structure remaining closed during this time. 2502 S. Michigan. Mr. Adamson reported this property has now been demolished. 1123 E. Donald Street. Mr. Adamson stated the property is presently closed, but nothing has been done to rehabilitate it. It was moved, sedonded and unanimously carried that the matter be continued for 60 days so long as the structure is kept closed.
