10/27/69 APPLICATIONS - POLICE DEPARTMENT The following applications for appointment to the South Bend Police Department were filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further processing: Susan Frances LaFehr Maurice Van Woods BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION Mr. J. W. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the following matters were taken up: 116-118 Chapel Lane. Mr. Adamson reported this pv6perty has been sold; and, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter was continued one week to permit the Sub -Standards Department to contact the new owner. 1815 W. Ford Street. Mr. Adamson reported this property is still open and C nothing further appears to have been done. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter was continued two weeks for the owner to complete cleaning up the premises. 1024 S. Main Street. Mr. Adamson reported the owner is demolishing this structure. It was moved, seconded and carried that the matter be continued indefinitely and that the property be kept under surveillance of the Sub - Standards Department. 740 Frances Street. Mr. Adamson reported the new owner of this property has been given a list of repairs necessary to bring the property up to standard. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter was continued one week. 412 E. Ohio Street. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, this matter was continued two weeks for the relocating of the occupants of this property. Demolition bids opened This being the date set, bids were opened for demolition of the following properties. Non collusion affidavits were found to be proper. Bids were: 1044 LaSalle Court: John Vanek $1,133.00 O'Neal Trucking Company 824.00 Bryant Exczvating Company 825.00 A & J Demolition Company 895.00 It was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that bid be awarded to O'Neal Trucking Company for demolition of the structure at 1044 LaSalle Court on its low bid of $824.00. And contract was executed by the Board. 724 S. Rush Street: John Vanek $500.00 A & J Demolition Company 575.80 O'Neal Trucking Company 434.00 Bryant Excavating Company 430.00 It was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that bid be awarded to Bryant Excavating Company on its low bid of $430.00. And contract was executed by the Board. 735 W. Jefferson: O'Neal Trucking Company $915.00 Bryant Excavating Company 831.00 A & J Demolition Company 125.00 (accessory building) John Vanek 807.00 It was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that bid be awarded to John Vanek for the demolition of the structures at 735 W. Jefferson on his low bid of $807.00. And contract was executed by the Board.
