September 15, 1969. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety met at 9:30 A.M. <br />on September 15, 1969, with Lloyd S. Taylor and S. J. Crumpacker present. <br />The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />OPEN BIDS FOR SPOTLIGHT - MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM <br />This being the date set for receiving.bids for a super trouper spot light <br />for Morris Civic Auditorium, the Clerk tendered proofs of publication in <br />the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News on September 5 and September <br />12, 1969, which were read -and found to be proper. <br />The only bid received Was from Abbott Theatre Equipment Company, 1311 <br />S. Wabash, Chicago, Illinois, which was opened. Non collusion affidavit <br />was found to be proper and certified check in the amount.of $242.95 found <br />to be sufficient. The bid, in the amount of $2,429.50 Appearing to be <br />reasonable, upon motion made, seconded and carried, was accepted and <br />contract signed by the Board. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />The following applications for appointment to the Fire Department were <br />filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel'Director for further <br />processing: <br />Richard Charles Calloway <br />1„7 John Michael Cz.akany <br />David Thomas Nowakowski <br />Retirement - George S. Ladewski <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board accepted and approved the <br />application for retirement from the Fire Department of George S. Ladewski, <br />effective September 15, 1969, Mr. Ladewski having been appointed September <br />13, 1949, and having served 20 years. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Applications for appointment <br />Appt,.ications:for,appointment.:to the Police Department as follows: <br />Kathryn Marie Anderson <br />Gerard Delchambre <br />Lawrence August Dutoi <br />Patrick John Sharpe <br />were filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further <br />processing. <br />Appointment - William Humphries <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, and the recommendation of Chief <br />of Police Loren M. Bussert, the Board approved the appointment of William <br />Humphries to the South Bend Police Department, effective September 16, 1969. <br />Statistical report for August, 1969 <br />Statistical report of the Police Department for August, 1969, was reviewed <br />by the Board and ordered filed. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />Forrest West, /Building Commissioner, appeared before the Board and the <br />following matters were taken up: <br />715 Marietta Street. Mrs. Lottie King, owner, appeared before the Board <br />and reported that the garage at these premises has been burned, and that <br />she is still trying to clean up the property. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried, an extension of four weeks was given Mrs. King in which to do the <br />necessary. <br />
