September 2, 1969. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safetye.,met at,9:32 A.M. <br />on September 2, 1969, with all members present. The minutes of the previous <br />meetings were reviewed and approved. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Request fortransfer of funds <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />request ofFire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for the following transfer of funds, <br />subject to review and confirmation of figures by the City Controller's office: <br />$1000.00 from Account #Q-11 (services personal) to Account #Q-221 <br />(electric); and <br />$400.00 from Account #Q-11 (services personal) to Account #Q-222 (gas). <br />Upon confirmation by the City Controller, the Legal Department is directed to <br />prepare an ordinance for such transfer for the consideration of the Common <br />Council. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Appointments to Police Department: Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously <br />carried, the Board approved the recommendation of Chief of Police Loren M. <br />Bussert for the appointment of the following men to the Police Department, <br />effective September 1, 1969: <br />Patrick J. Galloway <br />Darrell Gene Gunn <br />Special police officer appointed - Taffie J. Mallard. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the recommendation of <br />Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert for*the appointment of Taffie J. Mallard as <br />a special police officer, employed by the Housing Authority of the City of <br />South Bend. <br />Promotions: <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />recommendation of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert, for the promotion of <br />Officer James McMahon to the rank of sergeant, effective September 3, 1969. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />recommendation of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert, for the promotion of <br />Officer James Robinson to the rank of sergeant, effective September 3, 1969. <br />Demotion: <br />At the request of officer John Pastor, upon the recommendation of Chief of <br />Police Loren M. Bussert, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, <br />the Board approved the demotion of officer John Pastor from the rank of <br />sergeant to the rank of patrolman, effective September 3, 1969. <br />Resignation: <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried,'upon the approval of <br />Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert, the Board accepted and approved the resignation <br />of Eddie A. Faulkens from the Police Department effective September 1., 1969. <br />Request to attend Pistol Match <br />Upon -motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the,Board`app. roved the <br />request of Chief Loren M. Bussert for the following men to attend the.annual <br />Indiana State Police Pistol Matches at Putnamville,:lndia'na, September 9, 10 <br />and 11, 1969: <br />Captain R. Albright Detective Sergeant W. Floring <br />Sergeant K. Zeider Patrolman J. Linville. <br />Detective Sergeant D. Foy <br />
