<br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30
<br />A.M., on July 28, 1969, with all members present. The minutes of the
<br />preceding meetings were reviewed and approved.
<br />REQUEST TO SELL UNUSED EQUIPMENT - MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM
<br />Floyd.M. Jessup, manager of Morris Civic Auditorium, appeared before the
<br />Board in reference to his request to sell certain unused equipment.
<br />After hearing the facts, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried,
<br />the Board approved the request and grants permission to sell to Niles Film
<br />Products, P. 0. Box 2545, South Bend, Indiana, for a total price of $410.00,
<br />Vhe following unused surplus theatre equipment:
<br />" 2 cinemascope lenses l set power rewinds
<br />2 sound heads 2 sets hand rewindg
<br />2 arc housings 1 screen
<br />2 projector bases 2 film cabinets
<br />1 amplifier and speaker system 2 sets of magazines

<br />For the improvement of S..Carlisle Street, from Prairie Avenue to Indiana
<br />Avenue, by constructing a Class C pavement.
<br />Hearing on the assessment roll, continued from July 21, 1969, upon motion
<br />made, seconded and unanimously carried, was further continued until August
<br />11, 1969.

<br />HEARING ON VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3295 - SEARS. ROEBUCK & COMPANY
<br />This being the date set for preliminary hearing on Resolution No. 3295, being
<br />#or the vacation of Franklin Street, from Western Avenue south to Monroe
<br />Street, the Clerk tendered proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune
<br />and the Tri County News on July 18 and July 25, 1969, which were read and
<br />found to be proper.
<br />Rabbi Jacob S. Bergman of the Congregation of the Sons of Israel Synagogue,
<br />420 S. William Street, South Bend, Indiana, appeared before the Board to
<br />remonstrate against the vacation of said street, stating as the reason that
<br />it would interfere with the parking of members in the vicinity of the Temple.
<br />Petitioner not being present, upon motion madg, seconded and,carried, the
<br />hearing was continued until August 4, 1969.
<br />APPLICATION FOR TAXICAB DRIVER'S LICENSE APPROVED - LEON CALVIN
<br />Leon Calvin having appeared before the Board and the Board being duly ad-
<br />vised, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, approved the issu-
<br />ance of a taxicab driver's license to Leon Calvin.

<br />Richard Fogle to be excused for military duty from July 26 through August 9,
<br />1969, at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin, is hereby confirmed and made of record.
