5/12/69 <br />116 E. Ohio Street. William L. Kimball did not appear before the Board <br />as requested. Mr. Adamson tendered a letter from Mr. Kimball stating he <br />had sold this property two or three times and none of them had been able <br />to make the payments and he was willing for the building to be demolished. - <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, permission was granted <br />to advertise for bids for demolition of the property. <br />1201 S. Carroll Street. Karl Dubail, owner of this property, did not appear <br />as requested. Mr. Adamson stated the property has been boarded up. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, an additional 30 days was <br />granted to allow the owner to bring the premises up to standard. <br />1131 E. Bowman. Mr. Adamson stated this building is still open and he has <br />heard nothing further from the owner nor from attorney Montgomery who <br />appeared before the Board on April 21, 1969, on behalf of the owner and at <br />which time he advised the property was up for tax sale on May 8, 1969. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, permission was granted <br />to'advertise for bids for demolition of the premises. <br />719 W. Jefferson._ Mr. Adamson stated he has heard nothing further from the <br />owner of this property. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, <br />al..further extension of two weeks was granted. <br />201 Wakewa Street. Mr. Adamson stated he had heard nothing further from Henry <br />Hoover, owner of this property; that some work has been done but that the <br />basement windows are still open and the garage is open. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and unanimously carried, the matter was continued until May 19, 1969, <br />and Mr. Adamson was directed to write the owner outlining what still remains <br />to be done to bring the property up to standard. <br />1053 LaSalle M LirMr. Adamson stated this property has now been secured. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter was continued <br />for 30 days for observation. <br />413 E. Ohio Street. Andrew Shewman, the owner of this property, stated that <br />he is witting to do with the property whatever is necessary and that he was <br />willing to convey it to the City. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously <br />carried, permission was granted to advertise for bids for demolition of the <br />property. <br />202 E. Parls Street. Mr. W. W. Wilson,747 Leland, South Bend, Indiana, owner <br />of the property, appeared before the Board. He stated no notice had been re- <br />ceived but he vs award the property -is sub -standard and he wants to get rid <br />of it and is willing to give the property to the city. He was told that if <br />the building -is open and a hazard it would eventually be demolished. <br />Bids opened <br />Bids were opened for demolition of the following properties. Upon examination, <br />non collusion affidavit accompanying each bid was found to be proper. Bids <br />were as follows: <br />536 Crescent Street: <br />Uulius O'Neal $650.00 <br />John E. Vanek 895.00 <br />A. Midwest Demolition 765.00 <br />H arvey R. Bryant 935.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, contract was awarded <br />to Julius O'Neal at $650.00, that being the lowest and best bid received. <br />1046 Georgiana Street: <br />Harvey R. Bryant $435.00 <br />A it J Demolition 330.00 <br />A. Midwest Demolitionr 265.00 <br />John E. Vanek 633.00 <br />Contract for demolition of the premises was, upon motion made, seconded <br />and unanimously carried, awarded to A. Midwest Demolition Company, that <br />being the lowest and best bid received. <br />
