<br />equal installments, with interest at the rate of six percent (60/.)
<br />per annum. Assessments, either cash or deferred, and such costs as
<br />said City is -by said entitled Acts and provisions of all Acts amendatory
<br />and supplemental thereto, required to pay, shall be paid into the
<br />General Improvement Fund of the City of South Bend, Indiana. All costs
<br />in making of said improvement shall be paid from said General Improve-
<br />ment Fund. All proceedings had and work done in making of said improve-
<br />ment, assessment of property, collection of assessments and issuance of
<br />bonds therefor shall be as provided for in said entitled Act and
<br />amendments thereto.
<br />The 28th day of May, 1969, at the hour of 7:30
<br />o'clock, P.M., local time, is hereby fixed as the time and the office
<br />of the Board in said city as the place when and where all persons whose
<br />property may be affected by such proposed improvement may be heard as to
<br />the necessity for the same, and all petitions and remonstrances received
<br />and the Board will on said day decide whether the benefits accruing to
<br />abutting and adjacent property and to the City of South Bend, Indiana,
<br />will be equal to or exceed the estimated cost of said improvement. The
<br />Clerk of the Board is hereby ordered to give notice by two weekly publi-
<br />cations of the time and place of hearing of this resolution.

<br />REQUEST TO HOLD STREET SERVICES - CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the request of Mrs.
<br />Mertice Jones, 133 N. Huey Street, South Bend, Indiana, of the Church of God
<br />in Christ, to hold street services in the 2200 block of West Washington Street
<br />and the 200 block of Chapin, between 5:30 P.M. and 6:30 P.M. on Saturdays,
<br />commencing May 10, 1969, and continuing until about the middle of September,
<br />was approved by the Board on condition that such services are held on the
<br />sidewalk and in no way interfere with traffic.
<br />REQUEST TO SELL POPPIES - AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY UNIT #272
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request for the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #272, 1712 S. Taylor Street,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, to sell poppies on the sidewalks May 23 and 24, 1969.
<br />Charitable Solicitations Committee having also reviewed the request and no
<br />permit found necessary since less than $500.00 was to be raised.
<br />REQUEST TO BURN OLD LUMBER - ARROW ELECTRIC COMPANY
<br />The request of Arrow Electric Company, 1129 South Bend Avenue, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, to burn old lumber at the site of a demolished building at 1108 23rd
<br />Street, upon motion made, seconded and carried, was referred to the FIte De-
<br />partment for investigation and recommendation.
<br />COMMUNICATION FROM THE FAMILY OF MRS. E. M. MORRIS expressing appreciation
<br />for the Resolution presented by the Board of Public Works and Safety.was
<br />ordered filed.
<br />COMMUNICATION FROM CHARITABLE SOLICITATIONS COMMITTEE
<br />Communication from the Charitable Solicitations Committee under date of May
<br />2, 1969, reporting on miscellaneous requests to make solicitations was ordered
<br />filed.
<br />CITY ENGINEER'S RECOMMENDATION FOR REPAIR OF BRIDGE OVER CLYDE CREEK
<br />The following recommendation of the City Engineer for the repair of the
<br />bridge over Clyde Creek on Hillsdale Road was read and ordered filed:
<br />"We have reviewed the bids received April 28,, 1969, for
<br />the repair of subject bridge and find that Haskins Excavating
<br />Company has submitted the lowest and best bid.
<br />We are by letter requesting an appropriation from the County
<br />Cumulative Bridge fund for this work."
