<br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at
<br />10:00 A.M., on April 28, 1969, with all members present. The minutes
<br />of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved.
<br />COMPLAINT — TRAFFIC ON SORIN STREET
<br />Ronald Nash, 3504 Sorin Street, South Bend, Indiana, acted as spokesman
<br />for some 10 or 12 property owners who appeared before the Board to com-
<br />plain about traffic conditions on Sorin Street, particularly speeding,
<br />and to request that something be done. Mr. Taylor, City Engineer, stated
<br />that the condition had not heretofore come to the attention of the
<br />Engineering Department. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the
<br />matter was referred to the Traffic Engineer for investigation and
<br />recommendation to the Board.
<br />OPEN BIDS - REPAIR OF BRIDGE OVER CLYDE CREEK ON HILLSDALE ROAD
<br />This being the date set for receiving bids_for the repair of the bridge
<br />over Clyde Creek on Hillsdale Road, the Clerk tendered proofs of publi-
<br />C cation in the South Berld Tribune and the Tri-County News on April 18 and
<br />> April 25, 1969, which were read and found to be sufficient. Bids were
<br />►- opened as follows:
<br />Haskins Excavating Company, Lakeville, Indiana. Non
<br />collusion affidavit and bid bond in the amount of 10%
<br />of the bid were found to be sufficient. Bid being----$1,550.00
<br />McIntyre o& Jones Construction Co., Inc., 2526 W. 6th
<br />Street, Mishawaka, Indiana. Non collusion affidavit
<br />and bid bond in the amount of 100% of the bid were
<br />found to be sufficient. Bid being --------------=-----$2,052.00
<br />Rieth Riley Construction Co., Inc., P. 0. Box 775,
<br />South Bend, Indiana. Non collusion affidavit and
<br />bid bond in the amount of 10% of the bid were
<br />found to be sufficient. Bid being--------------------$2,470.00
<br />Harry H. Verkler, Contractor, Inc., 645 N. Wilber
<br />Street, South Bend, Indiana. Non collusion affidavit
<br />and h-14 bond im. the amount of 10% of the b i d were
<br />found to be sufficient. Bid being ------------------- $2,800.00
<br />No other bids being received, upon, --motion made, seconded and unanimously
<br />carried, the bids were referred to the City Engineer for review and
<br />recommendation.
<br />OPEN BIDS - 2550 FEET CONCRETE CURB ON SHERIDAN STREET
<br />This being the date set for receiving bids for the replacement of approxi-
<br />mately 2550 feet of curb on Sheridan Street, from Ford: to Sample Street,
<br />.the Clerk tendered proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune and the
<br />Tri County News on April 18 and April 25, 1969, which were read and found
<br />to be sufficient. Bids were as follows:
<br />McIntyre & Jones Construction Co., Inc., 2526 W. 6th
<br />Street, Mishawaka, Indiana. Non collusion affidavit
<br />and bid bond in the amount of 10% of the bid were
<br />found to be proper. Bid being a total of ----------- $22,071.00

<br />and bid bond in the amount of 10% of the bid were
