M <br />April 21, 1969 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 18:00 <br />A.M., with all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting were <br />reviewed and approved. <br />HEARING ON ASSESSMENT ROLL - VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3277, 1969 - EDMOND COURT <br />This being the date set, hearing was held on the assessment roll in Vacation <br />Resolution No. 3277, being for the vacation of: <br />A portion of Edmond Court, situated between Notre.Dame Avenue <br />and Frances Street, from LaSalle Avenue south to the first <br />east -west alley also known as Luther Court. <br />Proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News on <br />April 4, April 11 and April 18, 1969, were read and found to be sufficient. <br />No remonstrators having appeared and no written remonstrances having been re- <br />ceived, on motion made, seconded and carried, the assessment roll was in all <br />things ratified, confirmed and approved, and the proceedings closed and the <br />property declared vacated. <br />PRELIMINARY HEARING ON VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3278, 1969 - A. T. F, T. <br />This being the date set preliminary hearing was held on Resolution No. 3278, <br />being for the vacation of: <br />Part of the existing alleys located in Weaver's Subdivision in the <br />City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana, being further <br />described as follows: <br />Beginning at the southeast corner of Lot 8 in said Weaver's <br />Subdivision; thence north along the east line of Lots 8, 9 and <br />10 in said Subdivision 127.50 feet; thence east along the north line <br />of the existing alley 32.0 feet; thence south parallel with the west <br />line of Lot 7 and the east line of Lots 8, 9 and 10 in said Sub- <br />division 16.50 feet to a point on the north line of the south 111.00 <br />feet of Lot 7; thence west along said north line of the south 111.00 <br />feet of Lot 7, a distance of 22.0 feet; thence south along the west <br />line of Lot 7, a distance of 111.00 feet to the southwest corner of <br />said Lot; thence west 10.0 feet to the point of beginning. <br />The Clerk tendered proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri-County News on April 11 and April 18, 1969, which were read and found to <br />be sufficient. <br />Attorney Joseph A. Roper and D. D. Cottrell of the American Telephone and <br />Telegraph Company, appeared before the Board. Also appearing before the <br />Board were six interested property owners, spokesmen for whom were Mr. and Mrs. Frank <br />Kaczorowski, 619 W. Wayne Street, South Bend, Indiana, and William Lawson, <br />405 Lincolnway West, South Bend, Indiana, the owner of property at 221 S. <br />Taylor Street. <br />The concern of the property owners was for ingress and egress through the <br />new alley and complaint of blocking the present alley. This having been re- <br />solved satisfactorily, upon motion made, seconded and carried, further action <br />was postponed for one week, and the petitioner was requested to provide the <br />Board with a dedication and a written undertaking to complete the improvements <br />within a specified time. <br />APPLICATIONS - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The following applications for appointment to the Police Department were <br />filed and referred to the Personnel Director for further processing: <br />Ralph Davis <br />Daniel Anthony Lattimer <br />Douglas William Laymon <br />
