April 7, 1969 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 10:00 <br />A.M. on April 7, 1969, with Lloyd S. Taylor and James A. Bickel present. <br />The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />OPEN BIDS - ROAD OIL FOR STREET DEPARTMENT <br />March 31, 1969, having been set as the date for opening bids for 200,000 <br />gallons of dust control road oil for the Street Department and having been <br />postponed, because of no mail deliveries on that date, u.nti,l this date., <br />proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News on.. <br />March 21'and March 28, 1969, were read and found to be proper. <br />Bids were opened as follows: <br />Westville Oil and Manufacturing, Inc., Westville, Indiana, <br />4639). Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. <br />Bid bond in the amount of $1000.00 was found to be sufficient. <br />Bid was as follows: @ 0.44� per gallon delivered to city <br />storage tank at 714 N. Niles Avenue; or @ 0.54� per gallon <br />delivered to storage tank (vendor furnished) at 714 N. Niles Ave. <br />Walker Corporation, P. 0. Box 3278, East Chicago, Indiana, <br />46312. Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. Bid <br />was accompanied by certified check in the amount of $1700.00 <br />which was found to be sufficient. Bid was @ .085� per gallon. <br />Bituminous Materials Company, Inc., Room 4.17 Marycrest Building, <br />2015 Western Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, 46621. Non collusion <br />affidavit was not notarized and the bid was therefore, upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, rejected. <br />OPEN BIDS - TWO 50,000 LB. CAB AND CHASSIS FOR STREET DEPARTMENT <br />This being the date set for opening bids on two 50,000 lb. cab and chassis <br />for the Street Department, proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune <br />and the Tri-County News on March 21 and March 28, 1969, were read and found <br />to be proper. Bids were as follows: <br />Jordan Ford, Inc., 609 E. Jefferson Boulevard, Mishawaka, <br />Indiana. Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. <br />Bid bond in the amount of 10% of the total bid was found <br />to be sufficient. Bid being for two 1969 Ford Cab and <br />Chassis @ $11,700.00 each, less trade-ins of $4,695.00 <br />Net-=----------------------------------------------------$18,705.00 <br />Gates Chevrolet Corporation, 333 Western Avenue, South <br />Bend, Indiana. Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. <br />Bid bond in the amount of 10% of the total bid was found <br />to be sufficient.
