3/10/69 being as -follows: one - 1969 Young Slurry Machine $14,205.10 less trade in 500"Q0 NET $ 8,705.10 Delivery 30 days The bid of Deeds Equipment Co., Inc., P.O. Box 26114, Lawrence, Indiana 46226, was opened. Non -collusion affidavit and bid bond of $1,500.00 were found to be suffi- cient. The bid being as follows: one - Hi-Way.Slurry Master, less trade in $71100.00 factory installed delivery of unit to So.Bend 220.00 The bid of Brook Motor Sales, Inc., 916 E. McKinley Ave., Mishawaka, Indiana, was opened. Non -collusion affidavit and bid bond of 10% of total bid were found to be sufficient. The bid being as follows: one - 1969 Mack, $15,745.00 delivery of 90 to 120 days verbally state by Brooks agent at Board mtg. The bid of International Harvester Co., 1319 S. Lafayette Blvd., South Bend, Ind., was opened. Non -collusion affidavit and Treasurer's check of $11600.00 were found to be sufficient. The bid being as follows: one - International 62,000 GVVi, cab and chassis $15,175.95 delivery 150 days Upon motion made, seconded and carried, said bids were referred to the Engineering Department for review and recommendation to the Board. MR, SMITH &_MR.. LEDDY - CHARITABLE SOLICITATIONS CGRj1ITTEE Mr. E. Smith and Mr. Leddy of the Charitable Solicitations Committee appeared to ask the Board to establish a policy on sidewalk solicitations. The case of the request of the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc. of America, Inc. was used as an example. The discussion was tabledfor another time when the Board and the Solicitations Committee can meet to further discuss policy. MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY ASSOCIATIONS OF 9AERICA INC - TAG DAY MARCH 15 1969 The request of the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc. to have a tag day March 15, 1969, in the down town area was reviewed by the Board and the solicitations committee. Having been cleared by that committee the Board upon motion made, seconded and carried approved the request. FIRE DEPARTIVIENT APPOINTMENT - Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board, upon recommendation of Fire Chief Joseph Zurat, approved the appointment of the following: Harold Bailey Timothy Makowski DanielV L. Meller to the South Bend Fire Department, effective March 16, 1969. Notice of acceptance for membership in the Firemen's Pension Fund is ordered filed. PRaLOTION - JOHN SAA IARICH - FIRE DEPARDiENT Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board, upon recommendation of Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat, approved the promotion of Fireman John Samarich to the rank of Lieutenant, effective March 16, 1969. APPLICATION FOR APPOINI'1,ENT - FIRE DEPARTMENT The applications of Bernard Joseph Dobski and Anthony Joseph Repczynski for appoint- ment to the South Bend Fire Department were filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further processing. RETIREMENT - POLICE DEPARTMENT Police Chief Thomas McNaughton submitted the declaration for retirement and appli- cation for pension fund benefits of Leon W. Helak. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, application was approved. /I
