3/10/69 <br />being as -follows: <br />one - 1969 Young Slurry Machine $14,205.10 <br />less trade in 500"Q0 <br />NET $ 8,705.10 <br />Delivery 30 days <br />The bid of Deeds Equipment Co., Inc., P.O. Box 26114, Lawrence, Indiana 46226, was <br />opened. Non -collusion affidavit and bid bond of $1,500.00 were found to be suffi- <br />cient. The bid being as follows: <br />one - Hi-Way.Slurry Master, less trade in $71100.00 factory installed <br />delivery of unit to So.Bend 220.00 <br />The bid of Brook Motor Sales, Inc., 916 E. McKinley Ave., Mishawaka, Indiana, was <br />opened. Non -collusion affidavit and bid bond of 10% of total bid were found to <br />be sufficient. The bid being as follows: <br />one - 1969 Mack, $15,745.00 <br />delivery of 90 to 120 days verbally state by Brooks agent at Board mtg. <br />The bid of International Harvester Co., 1319 S. Lafayette Blvd., South Bend, Ind., <br />was opened. Non -collusion affidavit and Treasurer's check of $11600.00 were found <br />to be sufficient. The bid being as follows: <br />one - International 62,000 GVVi, cab and chassis $15,175.95 <br />delivery 150 days <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, said bids were referred to the Engineering <br />Department for review and recommendation to the Board. <br />MR, SMITH &_MR.. LEDDY - CHARITABLE SOLICITATIONS CGRj1ITTEE <br />Mr. E. Smith and Mr. Leddy of the Charitable Solicitations Committee appeared to <br />ask the Board to establish a policy on sidewalk solicitations. The case of the <br />request of the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc. of America, Inc. was used as an example. <br />The discussion was tabledfor another time when the Board and the Solicitations <br />Committee can meet to further discuss policy. <br />MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY ASSOCIATIONS OF 9AERICA INC - TAG DAY MARCH 15 1969 <br />The request of the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc. to have a tag day March 15, 1969, <br />in the down town area was reviewed by the Board and the solicitations committee. <br />Having been cleared by that committee the Board upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried approved the request. <br />FIRE DEPARTIVIENT APPOINTMENT - <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board, upon recommendation of Fire <br />Chief Joseph Zurat, approved the appointment of the following: <br />Harold Bailey <br />Timothy Makowski <br />DanielV L. Meller <br />to the South Bend Fire Department, effective March 16, 1969. Notice of acceptance <br />for membership in the Firemen's Pension Fund is ordered filed. <br />PRaLOTION - JOHN SAA IARICH - FIRE DEPARDiENT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board, upon recommendation of Fire <br />Chief Joseph L. Zurat, approved the promotion of Fireman John Samarich to the <br />rank of Lieutenant, effective March 16, 1969. <br />APPLICATION FOR APPOINI'1,ENT - FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />The applications of Bernard Joseph Dobski and Anthony Joseph Repczynski for appoint- <br />ment to the South Bend Fire Department were filed with the Board and referred to <br />the Personnel Director for further processing. <br />RETIREMENT - POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Police Chief Thomas McNaughton submitted the declaration for retirement and appli- <br />cation for pension fund benefits of Leon W. Helak. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, application was approved. <br />/I <br />
