<br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 10:00'
<br />A.M., on February 17, 1969, with all members present. The minutes of the
<br />previous meeting were reviewed and approved.
<br />OPEN BIDS — CHECK PROTECTOR AND CHECK SIGNER FOR CONTROLLER
<br />This being the date set for receiving bids for a check protector and a check
<br />signer, proofs of publication in the South Bend -Tribune and the Tri-County News
<br />on February 7 and February 14, 1969, were read and found to be proper.
<br />The only bid received was from Burroughs Corporation, Business Forms &
<br />Supplies Group, 1335 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, 46615, which was
<br />opened. Non collusion affidavit and certified check in the amount of $276.50
<br />were found to be sufficient. The bid was as follows:
<br />One T142-C control center unit Check Protector and
<br />check signer combination ------------------------- $2 765.00
<br />less trade in ----------- 300.00
<br />Net-------$2,465.00
<br />This being the only bid received and upon the Controller's recommendation
<br />as no exceptions were made to the specifications, upon motion made, seconded
<br />and unanimously carried, contract was awarded to Burroughs Corporation.
<br />OPEN BIDS - JANITORIAL SERVICES FOR MUNICIPAL SERVICES BUILD.,ING
<br />This being the date set for receiving bids for janitorial services for
<br />Municipal Services Building, 701 W. Sample Street, for the period. 3/l/69
<br />through 12/31/69, proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune and the
<br />Tri-County News on January 31 and February 7, 1969, were read and found to
<br />be sufficient. The following bids were opened:
<br />ABC Janitor Service, 821 N. Notre Dame Avenue, South Bend, Indiana,
<br />17. Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. Certified
<br />check in the amount of $787.50 accompanied the -bid. -Financial
<br />Statement_,For;n Mo.- 9%=.a=also=accompanied the -bid - wB_id-being-as:=follows:
<br />"for- the<°sum of $1750.00 per month or $15750.00 for: 9..,months. $1750.00
<br />per mo."
<br />South Bend Window Cleaning Co., 501 E. LaSalle Street, South Bend,
<br />Indiana. Non collusion affidavit and bid bond were found to -be
<br />sufficient. The bid was also accompanied by Financial Statement
<br />Form No. 96-a and certificate of general insurance in effect -until
<br />7/11/69. Bid being as follows:
<br />Janitorial services from 3/1/69 through 12/31/69---$15,800.00
<br />Midwest Janitor Service & Supply, Inc., 1809 E. Ireland Road,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, Non collusion affidavit and certified check
<br />in the amount of $800.00 were found to be sufficient. Bid was as
<br />as follows:
<br />Janitorial services for Municipal Services
<br />Facility for the period 3/1/69 through 12/31/69----$15,750.00
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the'bids were referred.
<br />to the director of purchasing,. for review and recommendation to the Board.
<br />REQUEST TO ATTEND INSTRUCTOR'S SCHOOL - CARL LEDERER - FIRE DEPARTMENT
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request of Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for Lieutenant Carl Lederer to attend
<br />the Fire Instructor's School at Indianapolis, Indiana, April 21 to April 25,
<br />1969.
<br />REQUEST -TO ATTEND INSTRUCTOR'S TRAINING CONFERENCE - BN. CHIEF DALE FORTIN
<br />AND CAPTAIN WILLIAM SCHMIDT - FIRE DEPARTMENT
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request of Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for Battalion Chief Dale Fortin and Captain
<br />William Schmidt to attend the Fire Instructors Training Conference at Ann
<br />Arbor, Michigan, February 25 and 26, 1969; and to attend a one day session
