2`e <br />2/10/69 <br />REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR STREET AND ALLEY MATERIALS - STREET <br />DEPARTMENT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of <br />the Street Department to advertise for bids for the following street and <br />alley materials: <br />Item <br />#1 - <br />30,000 <br />tons hot asphaltic concrete <br />Item <br />#2 - <br />7,200 <br />tons limestone aggregate <br />Item <br />#3 - <br />240,000 <br />gallons emulsified asphalt <br />Item <br />#4 - <br />200,000 <br />gallons dust control oil or oil -based <br />concentrate to produce equivalent gallons <br />Item <br />#5 - <br />40,000 <br />tons various gravels and ice control sand <br />Item <br />#6 - <br />29000 <br />tons street patching materials <br />Item <br />#7 - <br />500 <br />cubic yards of ready-mtx concrete (Class A) <br />200 <br />cubic yards of ready -mix concrete (Class B) <br />And the Clerk is directed to advertise in the South Bend Tribunew•and the <br />Tri-County News on February 14 and February 21, 1969, for bids to be re- <br />ceived on March 10, 1969. <br />PARKING PROHIBITED - E. SIDE OF WILLIAM, BETWEEN WASHINGTON & COLFAX <br />Upon motion made,seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommenda- <br />tion of the traffic engineer to prohibit parking on the east sidez-of <br />William Street south from the present restriction to a point 33 feet to <br />the south which is the alley intersection, between Colfax and Washington. <br />street;, in order to provide for a right turn lane for off street parking <br />where the Central Junior High School stood before demolition. <br />REMOVAL OF PARKING METERS - 209 S. MAIN STREET <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the removal <br />of parking meters #1, #3, #5 and #7 at 209 S. Main Street in order to pro- <br />vide access to a proposed parking lot for the First Bank and Trust Company <br />customers. <br />SNOW ROUTE CHANGE - MAIN STREET <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommenda- <br />tion of the Traffic Engineer for the snow route on Main Street to extend <br />to Marion Street only, due to the continuous need for curb space <br />because of Memorial Hospital and apartment complexes near by. <br />STREET LIGHTS APPROVED <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommenda- <br />tion of the Traffic Engineer for the installation of the following street <br />lights: <br />Installation of a 7,000 L MV mid -block, 1200 E. Donald Street <br />at a cost of $3.75 per month. <br />Installation of a 20,000 L MV to complete the I & M system at a <br />cost of $5.35 per month. <br />CITY ENGINEER'S RECOMMENDATION <br />ORDER TO CONSULTING ENGINEER FOR PRELIMINARY PLANS <br />Petition of Edward J. Molenda and nine others for the improvement of the <br />alley between Sunnymede and Wayne Street south to the first north -south <br />alley west, by constructing a Class C, Type 1, permanent concrete pavement. <br />Petition of Gus Cogdell and -two others for the improvement of Freemont <br />Street from Washington Street to Lawton, by constructing a Class C pavement <br />with curbs. <br />Petition of Joseph Muia and eight others for the improvement of the alley <br />between South Michigan and South Main Streets from Bowman to Calvert Street, <br />by constructing a Class C, Type 1, permanent concrete pavement. <br />In the foregoing petitions, upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board <br />approved the recommendation of the City Engineer to grant such petitions <br />and ordered the consulting engineer, Clyde E. Williams and Associates, Inc. <br />
