January 20, 1969 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was held at <br />10;00 A.M. on January 20, 1969, with all members present. The minutes <br />of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />ADOPTION OF VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3272, 1969 - STATE WIDE <br />ALUMINUM`PRODUCTS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, Vacation Resolution <br />No. 3272, 1969, being for the vacation of: <br />All of that part of the right of way of Fairview Avenue from <br />the west tine of Main Street to the east right of way line of <br />Penn -Central. <br />Reserving the rights of all public utilities and the Municipal <br />City of South Bend, Indiana, to construct and maintain all <br />publicly owned utilities and surface water control structures <br />and ditches within the vacated right of way. <br />The following property may be injuriously or beneficially <br />affected by such vacation: <br />Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,,6, 7 and 8 Oakside Plat and the land north <br />of and adjacent to Fairview Avenue, bounded on the east by <br />Main Street and on the west by the Penn -Central right of way. <br />was adopted by the Board, and February 3, 1969, at 10:00 A.M., was set <br />as the time for hearing and receiving remonstrances from all persons <br />interested in or affected by these proceedings. And the Clerk is <br />directed to publish notice of such hearing in the South Bend Tribune and <br />the Tri County News on January 24 and January 31, 1969. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />Mr. -Adamson, Sub -Standards :.Di rector, appeared before the Board, and <br />the following matters were taken up: <br />804 N. St. Peter Street. Mr. Adamson stated he had received a communi= <br />cation from Charles Howell, the land contract buyer of this property, <br />who had been requested to appear before the Board this date concerning <br />his interest in this property, stating he was unable to appear on <br />January 20. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter was post- <br />poned until January 27, 1969. <br />1627 S. Carlisle. Jerry Reed, the owner of this property, did not appear <br />before the Board this date as requested. Mr. Adamson reported this <br />property in bad condition and open to the public. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and unanimously carried, the Board granted permission to adver- <br />tise for bids for demolition of the property. <br />REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR DEMOLITION OF 737 WESTERN AVENUE <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved <br />the request of the City Engineer for permission to advertise for bids for <br />demolition of city owned property at 737 Western Avenue, with bids to be <br />received on January 27, 1969. <br />REQUEST FOR REVIEW OF DENIAL FOR TAXICAB DRIVER'S LICENSE - BILLIE J. HENDRIX <br />Billie J. Hendrix appeared' before the Board and requested a review of its <br />denial to him of a taxicab driver's license in November, 1967. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter was referred <br />to the Police Department for current report, and Mr. Hendrix was requested <br />to appear before the Board on January 27, 1969. <br />
