1/13/69 <br />COMMUNICATION FROM SALVATION ARMY <br />A letter of appreciation from the Salvation Army for permission to place <br />their kettle booths on Michigan Street at Christmas time was,:ordered filed. <br />AGREEMENT WITH INDIANA STATE HIGHWAY COMMISSION FOR MAINTENANCE OF <br />TRAFFIC SIGNALS <br />Agreement with the Indiana State Highway Commission for maintenance of. <br />traffic signals on State routes through the City of South Bend, submitted <br />by the Indiana State Highway Commission, was referred to the Legal Depart- <br />ment for study and recommendation. <br />PAYROLL CONTRACT - SOUTH BEND COMMUNITY SCHOOL CORPORATION <br />Contract between the City of South Bend and the South Ben& School Corpora- <br />tion for the South Bend School Corporation to prepare employee payrolls <br />for the City of South Bend is executed by the Board. Said contract pro- <br />viding: <br />1968 - at the rate of $540000 per year <br />payable April 1, July 1, September 1 and December 15 <br />C1^ <br />il- <br />1969 - (and thereafter until modified or cancelled) <br />at the rate of $5700.00 per year <br />payable April 1, July 1, September 1 and December 15 <br />RENEWAL OF LEASE - FIRE STATION #6 - SOUTH BEND CIVIC THEATRE, INC <br />Renewal of lease for Fire Station #6, 701 Portage Avenue, by South Bend Civic <br />Theatre, Inc., is executed by the Board. <br />COMPLAINT - SMOKE AND SOOT - RAY KEISER <br />A letter of complaint of excessive smoke and soot in the area of Main <br />and Navarre Streets was received from Ray Keiser, 721 Riverside Drive, <br />South Bend and referred to the Engineering Department for investigation. <br />REQUESTS TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the following <br />requests to advertise for bids: <br />1. Two 8-channel recorders for the Fire Department. <br />2. One communications monitoring instrument for the Radio <br />Maintenance Department. <br />3. Nine dump bodies complete with hydraulic systems mounted <br />on trucks to be furnished by the City. <br />February 3, 1969, is set as the date for receiving bids, and the Clerk is <br />directed to publish notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News <br />on January 17 and January 24, 1969. <br />REQUEST FOR FIREMEN TO DISTRIBUTE CANNISTERS - MARCH OF DIMES <br />The request of Mrs. Charldine Hamilton, executive secretary of the March <br />of Dimes Drive, 1026 E. Indiana Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, for the <br />Fire Department to distribute cannisters in connection with the March of <br />Dimes drive January 18 to January 26, 1969, after discussion was denied by <br />the Board for the reason that the request was for the placing of some 750 <br />cannisters by "on -duty" firemen'_which would require an anusual amount of <br />time. <br />CONTRACTORS BONDS <br />Contractors bond for Edward C. Hermann expiring 12/26/69 and certificate <br />continuing contractors bond for John D. Skiles Construction Company to 2/5/70 <br />were approved by the Board. <br />
