<br />REQUEST TO PAVE SOUTH RUSH STREET
<br />A petition signed by Harold C. Personette (no address given) and 17 others
<br />requesting the pavement of the 1600 and 1700 blocks of S. Rush Street
<br />was filed with the Board and referred to the Engineering Department for
<br />appropriate action.
<br />REQUEST TO HOLD MARCH - YOUTH COUNCIL EMANUEL CHURCH
<br />The request of Charles B. Thomas, Chairman, Youth Council, Emanuel Church
<br />of Deliverance, 415 W. LaSalle Street, South Bend, Indiana to holda march
<br />on June 19, 1971 in the downtown area was tabled for more information.
<br />REQUEST TO HOLD MEMORIAL DAY PARADE - WEST SIDE VETERANS
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request of Clem F. Hazinskifor the West Side Veterans Memorial Committee,
<br />1143z Western Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, to hold a parade on Memorial
<br />Day, May 31, 1971, commencing at 9:30 A.M., at Ford and Olive Streets
<br />going west on Olive Street to Lombardy where it will disband. Certificate
<br />of proper insurance was filed.
<br />SOUTH BEND SHRINE CLUB PARADE
<br />Letter of confirmation of plans for the South Bend Shrine Club Parade on
<br />June 12,,1971, from John R. Kagel was ordered filed.
<br />REQUEST TO USE STREET FOR YOUTH ENTERPRISE
<br />Joseph A. Gatto, 1035 Allen Street, South Bend, Indiana, appeared before
<br />the Board and submitted a request for permission to use S. Eddy Street
<br />where it dead ends in front of Newman Center near the Farmers' Market
<br />for the purpose of erecting a tent or booths for a youth enterprise.
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter was taken under advise-
<br />ment for the Board members to inspect the site.
<br />REQUEST TO HOLD PARADE - JOSEPH SZALAY
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request of Joseph Szalay for
<br />the "Support Our President for Peace" Organization, 111 E. Washington Street,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, to hold a parade on June 5, 1971, was approved on con-
<br />dition that certificate of proper insurance to hold the City harmless is
<br />filed with the Board. The parade is to start at 10:00 A.M. in front of 815
<br />N. Michigan and proceeding south on Michigan to Jefferson, west on Jefferson
<br />to the County City Building, where it will pause for 20 minutes for a speaking
<br />program, north on Lafayette to Marion, east on Marion to Michigan, north
<br />on Michigan to the K of C Building.
<br />CIVIL DEFENSE - )COMMUNITY SHELTER PLAN
<br />Community Shelter Plan for St. J oseph County, Indiana, prepared by the U.S.
<br />Army Corps of Engineers, Ohio River Division, in cooperation with Federal, State
<br />and local offices of Civil Defense, submitted by Don Germann, local director,
<br />was ordered filed.
<br />TRAFFIC SIGNALS INSTALLED - HICKORY ROAD AT AYR-WAY STORE ENTRANCE
<br />The Traffic Director, Clem F. Hazinski, reports traffic signals on Hickory
<br />Road at the entrance of Ayr -Way Store, have been installed and the cost of
<br />such equipment and installation paid by L. S. Ayres and Company.
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board executed a release
<br />and indemnity agreement whereby;
<br />"Ayr -Way hereby transfers and assigns all right, title, interest,
<br />control and possession in said traffic signal equipment to the City
<br />and the City hereby agrees to release, indemnify and save harmless
