36W April 26, 1971. A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:35 A.M. on April 26, 1971, with all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved. FIRE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATION �he application of Florian Stephen end Fire Department was filed with Director for further processing. POLICE DEPARTMENT-- APPLICATION Horvath, Jr. for appointment to the South the Board and referred to the Personnel The application of John Botich, Jr., for appointment to the South Bend Police Department was filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further processing. POLICE DEPARTMENT - TRAFFIC REPORT �-1 The traffic report of the Police Department for March, 1971, was reviewed and �0 ordered filed. BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION Kenneth Hadley, of the Sub -Standards Department, appeared before the Board and the following matters were taken up: 736 N. Frances Street. Mr. Hadley reported the owner, Wallace J. Mitchell, is cleaning up the premises at 736 N. Frances Street and, upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter was continued indefinitely and the Sub - standards Department was directed to keep the premises under surveillance. 234 Pagin Street. Mr. Hadley reported as of this morning nothing has been done to this property. Paul Shanahan did not appear as requested. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Department was authorized to seek bids for demolition of the structure at 234 Pagin Street. Demolition bids opened: This being the date set, bids for demolition of the following structurewere opened. Non collusion affidavits were found to be proper. The following bids were received. 1616 Kizer Court: Midwest Demolition Company $437.00 O'Neal Trucking Company $398.00 John Vanek $328.00 Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, contract for demolition of the structure at 1616 Kizer Court was awarded to O'Neal Trucking Company on its bid of $398.00. 1608-1612 Prairie Avenue. Mr. Hadley reported the premises at 1608-1612 Prairie Avenue are being cleaned up by the owner. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter was continued one week to permit the owner to finish cleaning up the trash and debris;: AGREEMENT FOR FIRE ALARM SYSTEM - INDIANA BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY The agreement between the Board of Public Works and Safety and the Indiana Bell Telephone Company for installation of an emergency reporting PBX system for the Fire Department, completed as of March 15, 1971, was ordered filed. POLICE DEPARTMENT - SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER APPOINTED Eugene Kyle, 1509 Carroll Street, South Bend, Indiana, having been approved for appointment as a special police officer in the employ of the South Bend Police Department, said appointment by the Board April 23, 1971, is hereby made of record.
