36W <br />April 26, 1971. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:35 <br />A.M. on April 26, 1971, with all members present. The minutes of the <br />previous meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATION <br />�he application of Florian Stephen <br />end Fire Department was filed with <br />Director for further processing. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT-- APPLICATION <br />Horvath, Jr. for appointment to the South <br />the Board and referred to the Personnel <br />The application of John Botich, Jr., for appointment to the South Bend <br />Police Department was filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel <br />Director for further processing. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - TRAFFIC REPORT <br />�-1 The traffic report of the Police Department for March, 1971, was reviewed and <br />�0 ordered filed. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />Kenneth Hadley, of the Sub -Standards Department, appeared before the Board <br />and the following matters were taken up: <br />736 N. Frances Street. Mr. Hadley reported the owner, Wallace J. Mitchell, <br />is cleaning up the premises at 736 N. Frances Street and, upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the matter was continued indefinitely and the Sub - <br />standards Department was directed to keep the premises under surveillance. <br />234 Pagin Street. Mr. Hadley reported as of this morning nothing has been <br />done to this property. Paul Shanahan did not appear as requested. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Department <br />was authorized to seek bids for demolition of the structure at 234 Pagin <br />Street. <br />Demolition bids opened: <br />This being the date set, bids for demolition of the following structurewere <br />opened. Non collusion affidavits were found to be proper. The following <br />bids were received. <br />1616 Kizer Court: <br />Midwest Demolition Company $437.00 <br />O'Neal Trucking Company $398.00 <br />John Vanek $328.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, contract for demolition of <br />the structure at 1616 Kizer Court was awarded to O'Neal Trucking Company on <br />its bid of $398.00. <br />1608-1612 Prairie Avenue. Mr. Hadley reported the premises at 1608-1612 <br />Prairie Avenue are being cleaned up by the owner. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the matter was continued one week to permit the owner to finish <br />cleaning up the trash and debris;: <br />AGREEMENT FOR FIRE ALARM SYSTEM - INDIANA BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY <br />The agreement between the Board of Public Works and Safety and the Indiana <br />Bell Telephone Company for installation of an emergency reporting PBX system <br />for the Fire Department, completed as of March 15, 1971, was ordered filed. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER APPOINTED <br />Eugene Kyle, 1509 Carroll Street, South Bend, Indiana, having been approved <br />for appointment as a special police officer in the employ of the South Bend <br />Police Department, said appointment by the Board April 23, 1971, is hereby <br />made of record. <br />
