<br />April 12, 1971, at 9:30 A.M., in Room 1308 County City Building, is set as
<br />the time and place for receiving remonstrances from persons interested in or
<br />affected by said vacation. And the Clerk is directed to give notice of said
<br />hearing, together with the amount -of damages awarded and benefits assessed,
<br />to the property owners by publication in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri
<br />County News on March 19, March 26 and April 2, 1971.
<br />The following property may be injuriously or beneficially affected by such
<br />vacation:
<br />The area north of East Western Avenue, east of Carroll
<br />Street, and Columbia Street south of East Monroe Street
<br />and west -of South Michigan Street.

<br />BOAT RACES MAY 15, 1971
<br />John E. Fisher, Michiana Watershed, Inc., 229 S. Michigan Street, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, appeared before the Board in reference to a boat race planned by
<br />the Michiana Watershed, Inc. on the St. Joseph.River May 15, 1971. It was
<br />determined by the Board that such activity would.not come under the juris-
<br />diction of the Board.
<br />WA_LKATHON - MARCH OF DIMES
<br />Mrs. Marth Lentych, 1023 S. Main Street, South Bend, Indiana, appeared before
<br />the Board in connection with a "Walkathon" planned by the March of Dimes
<br />Foundation on April 24, 1971, from the University of Notre Dame to Mishawaka
<br />and back between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. Mrs. Lentych stated
<br />that no more than 20 persons would be walking as a group at any one time
<br />and that traffic regulations will be observed. Thereupon, the Board advised
<br />no permit was necessary from the Board of Public Works and Safety.
<br />TRAFFIC SIGNAL REQUEST - ST. JOSEPH AND IRELAND ROAD - K-MART
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request of K-Mart 59654 U. S.
<br />Highway #31, South Bend, Indiana for a traffic signal at the intersection
<br />of St. Joseph Street and Ireland Road was referred to the Traffic Engineering
<br />Departrent for study and recommendation to the Board.
<br />REQUEST DENIED FOR FOUR-WAY STOP - COLLEGE AND VASSAR
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />recommendation of the Traffic Engineering Department that College and Vassar
<br />not be made a four way stop, and the petition for such four-way stop filed
<br />by K. F. Kohnke, 1101 N. Brookfield Street, and others, was.denred.
<br />REQUEST FOR STREET LIGHT - 300 BLOCK LUELDA STREET
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request of Mrs. Lester Heth, 318
<br />Luelde Street, South Bend, Indiana, for a street light in the 300 block of
<br />Luelde Street was referred to the Traffic Engineering Department for study
<br />and recommendation to the Board.
<br />STREET LIGHTING - Annexation area - Crest Manor and Kensington Farms
<br />UPon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, action on the recommenda-
<br />tion of the Traffic Engineering Department for street lights in the annexation
<br />area of Crest Manor and Kensington Farms was deferred until the final opinion
<br />of the Appellate Court of Indiana has been received as to the validity of
<br />the annexation.
<br />STREET LIGHTING - VIADUCT AT SUNNYSIDE AND TWYCKENHAM
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />recommendation of the Traffic Engineering Department for street lighting
<br />at viaducts on the Penn Central Railroad as follows:
