1/19/71 a BID ON ITEM #8, MISCELLANEOUS EQUIPMENT 12/21/70 - ELKHART WELDING ; AND BOILER WORKS, INC. The City Engineer reported back in the matter of the bid of Elkhart Welding and Boiler Works, Inc., and recommended that the bid be rejected. Thereupon, the motion was made, seconded and carried that the bid of Elkhart Welding and Boiler Works, Inc., for Item #8 of its bid submitted December 21, 1970, for dump bodies be rejected in that it does not meet specifications for hydraulic system. AWARD OF CONTRACTS CONTINUED - MISCELLANEOUS EQUIPMENT BIDS 12/21/70 The award of contracts for miscellaneous equipment on Items #1, #2, #3, A, #5 and #8 of bids received December 21, 1970, was further con- tinued. CONTRACTS AWARDED - GROUPS X XVIII AND XIX - TRUCK EQUIPMENT - BIDS 12/21/70 Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, contracts were awarded for Groups X, XVIII and XIX for truck equipment on• bids re- ceived December 21, 1970, as follows: International Harvester Company: Group X 1 - 7,500# pickup truck - $ 2,659.56 (for Traffic Dept.) Group XVIII 3 - 25,000## cabover chassis - $19,977.06 (for Sanitation Dept.) Gates Chevrolet Co. Group XIX 1 - 7,500# pickup truck - $ 2,265.94 (for Sanitation Dept.) COMMUNICATION FROM EDWARD N. KALAMAROS - RE SUSPENSION OF POLICE OFFICERS 10/27/70 A letter under date of January 14, 1971 from attorney Edward N. Kalamaros in reference to the suspension of eight police officers resulting from the Pink Poodle Bar incident on 10/20/70 was read and ordered filed. COMMUNICATION FROM MRS. RICHARD W. CLEMENS A letter from Mrs. Richard W. Clemens, 19325 Sundale Avenue, South Bend, Indiana inquiring if the property at 803 Notre Dame Avenue is for sale was read and ordered filed. The Clerk was directed to write Mrs. Clemens it is not for sale. COMMUNICATION FROM HUMANE SOCIETY ti A letter from Mrs. Martha Flanagan of the Humane Society in reference to the destruction of pigeons was read and referred to the City Engineer, INDEMNITY AGREEMENT APPROVED - AMERICAN NATIONAL BANK & TRUST COMPANY Upon motion made, seconded and carried,indemnity agreement provided by the American National Bank and Trust Company to hold the City of South Bend harmless in connection with the erection of two flag poles on Main Street in front of the Bank Building,,was approved by the Board upon the recommendation of the City Attorney. INSURANCE CERTIFICATE FILED - PANEL ADS, INC. Certificate of liability insurance coverage for Panel Ads to 12:00 noon December 31, 1971, was ordered filed. , IN -KIND RENT VOUCHERS - A.C.T.I.O.N. Inc. In -kind rent vouchers for January for Fire Stations #5 and #7 and for the months of May, 1970 through January, 1971, for Fire Station #8j were ordered filed.
