1294; <br />January 4, 1971 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 <br />A.M. on January 4, 1971. Present were Lloyd S. Taylor and S. J. Crumpacker. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />Forrest R. West, Building Commissioner, appeared before the Board and the follow- <br />ing matters were taken up: <br />1631 S. Franklin Street. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter <br />of 1 31 S. Franklin Street was continued two weeks to permit the owner to <br />close the building. <br />1207 King Street. Upon motion made; seconded and carried, the matter of 1207 <br />King Street was continued one week. <br />2018 S. Michigan Street. Mr. West reports the structure at 2018 S. Michigan <br />Street has been secured with the exception of the accessory building. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, the matter of 2018 S. Michigan Street was <br />continued indefinitely and the Sub -Standards Department was requested to keep <br />the property under surveillance. <br />122 S. Laurel Street. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter of <br />122 S. Laurel Street was continued one week. <br />1312 S. St. Joseph Street. Mr. West reports this property has now been secured. <br />2116 Western Avenue. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter of <br />2116 Western Avenue was continued one week and the Clerk of the Board was <br />directed to notify Mr. Stratigos, attorney for the estate owner, to be present <br />on January 11, 1971. <br />REQUEST OF BUILDING COMMISSIONER TO ATTEND MEETING IN HOUSTON. TEXAS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried the Board approved the request of <br />Forrest R. West, Building Commissioner to attend the Building Officials Code <br />Administrators International, Inc. Code Changes Hearings in Houston, Texas, <br />January 8 to 10, 1971: <br />ENGINEER'S RECOMMENDATION <br />AWARD OF CONTRACT - SANITARY SEWER EXTENSION AIRPORT INOUSTR4AL PARK, PHASE III <br />Clyde E. Williams & Associates, Inc., consulting engineers, having examined <br />the bids received December 28, 1970, for extension of the sanitary sewer in <br />Airport Industrial Park, Phase III, files its recommendation for award of contract <br />to Haskins, Inc. of Lakeville, Indiana, and the Board, being duly advised, <br />approves said recommendation and upon motion made, seconded and carried, con- <br />tract for said construction is awarded to Haskins, Inc., on its low bid of <br />$20,798.00. <br />CONTRACT AWARDED - GROUP I AND II, MOTOR EQUIPMENT FOR 1971 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, contract was awarded to Gates Chevrolet <br />Company on Groups I and If (31 4-door Sedans and 1 4-door Station Wagon for the <br />Police Department) of the bids received December 14, 1970. <br />Upon motion further made, seconded and carried, permission was granted to re - <br />advertise for bids on Groups III, 1V, V, VI, VII, Vill, IX, X and XI. <br />January 18, 1971 was set as the time for receiving bids, and the Clerk was <br />directed to give notice by publication in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri <br />County News on January 8 and January 15, 1971. <br />RECOMMENDATION - MISCELLANEOUS EQUIPMENT AND TRUCKS <br />The Engineering Department having reviewed the bids for miscellaneous <br />equipment and trucks received on December 21, 1970, recommends the award of <br />contract to the low bidder in each instance except for Item VI. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried the award of contracts was postponed two weeks. <br />DECLARATION OF VACATION - LAGOON A - HEPLER-34TH STREETS <br />It was moved, seconded and carried, that the streets and alleys located with- <br />in the perimeter of Lagoon A in the recorded plat of the town of Fairview, <br />Second Addition, St. Joseph County, Indiana, be vacated. <br />
