I µ ' <br />12/7/70 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, contract for demolition of the <br />structure at 205 N. Walnut Street was awarded to B & J Demolition Company <br />on its low bid of $335.00. <br />Request for owners of sub -standard properties to appear before the Board <br />December 21, 1970. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request -of <br />the Sub -Standards Director for the following persons to appear before the <br />Boar&:on December 21, 1970, to show cause, if any they have, why the following <br />structures should not be demolished; <br />1039 LaSalle Court - Clair E. and Mary L. Bunyan <br />325 S. Taylor Street St. Joseph County Commissioners <br />1312 S. St. Joseph Street. Roy Braden, 905 W. Colfax Avenue, South Bend, <br />Indiana, appeared before the Board and complained of a furnace wrongfully <br />being removed from the property at 1312 S. St. Joseph Street, which he is <br />buying under a land contract and which recently suffered a fire. Mr. <br />Braden was advised that the matter would be investigated and that the owner <br />Mr. Stanton has been requested to appear before the Board on December 14, <br />1970, and it was suggested that Mr. Braden also appear. <br />HEARING ON VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3331, 1970 - DEPARTMENT OF REDEVELOPMENT <br />Having been continued November 2, 1970, hearing was resumed on Vacation <br />Resolution No. 3331, 1970, being for the vacation of; <br />Portions of Leon Court, Catalpa Street and Chapin Street; <br />and portions of five north -south alleys between Prairie <br />and Catalpa Streets, Catalpa and Chapin and Chapin and <br />Kendall Streets. <br />Mr. Slab"gh appeared on behalf of the Department of Redevelopment. <br />Mrs. Harry L. Delinski, 1502 S. Catalpa Street and Mrs. Louis P. Jonas, <br />1505 S. Catalpa Street, outh Bend, Indiana, appeared before the Board as <br />interested property owners. <br />Mr,. Taylor stated the purpose of continuing the hearing was to give the De- <br />partment of Redevelopment further opportunity to resolve the problems attendant <br />to a vacation of these streets and alleys and particularly as affecting the <br />property owners on Catalpa Street. <br />After a further discussion, upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter <br />was continued indefinitely, to be re -scheduled when a proper solution has been <br />worked out. <br />CONTRACT AWARDED FOR FIRE HOSE <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the recommendation of -the <br />Fire Chief was approved for the purchase of fire hose from Midwest Fire and <br />Safety Equipment Company as follows, subject to appropriated funds being <br />available; <br />Item A - 2000 ft. - 22" bi-lateral dacron hose @ $2.18. <br />Item E - 14 - 20 ft. lengths of 3" bi-lateral dacron <br />hose P $88.95 per section. <br />Item 1 - 4 - 15 ft. of 5" soft suction bi-lateral <br />dacron hose @ $269.25 per section. <br />CONTRACT AWARDED FOR REMOVAL OF "JUNK" CARS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, contract for the removal <br />and disposal of approximately 500 junk cars from 915 S. Olive Street was <br />awarded to Decatur Salvage, Inc., on its bid of $2,542.80, the South Bend <br />Baling and Iron Company, Inc., having submitted and the Board having accepted <br />the withdrawal of its bid in the amount of $5,555.00, that being the highest <br />bid received. <br />
