<br />REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR GASOLINE AND FUEL OIL
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request of the Purchasing Director to advertise for bids for gasoline and
<br />fuel oil for the period Januaory 1 through June 30, 1971, and for the
<br />period January 1 through December 31, 1971. November 16, 1970, was set as
<br />the date for receiving bids. And the Clerk was directed -to give notice by
<br />publication in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News on November 6,
<br />1970 and November 13, 1970.
<br />REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR,DISPOSAL OF ABANDONED VEHICLES
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the request of
<br />the Engineering Department for permission to advertise for bids for the
<br />removal and disposal of approximately 500 abandoned vehicles acquired under
<br />the provisions of the Abandoned Vehicle Act, Chapter 374, Acts of 1969 of
<br />the Indiana General Assembly.
<br />November 30, 1970, was set as the time for receiving bids. And the Clerk
<br />was directed to give notice by publication in the South Bend Tribune and
<br />the Tri County News,on November 6 and November 13, 1970.
<br />REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR FIRE ENGINE - FIRE DEPARTMENT
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request of Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for permission to advertise for bids
<br />for a 1500 gallon pumping fire engine for the Fire Department." December 7,
<br />1970, was set as the time for receiving bids. And the Clerk was directed
<br />to give notice by publication in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County
<br />News on November 6 and November 13, 1970.

<br />`.IMPRO'VEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3321 - BEALE STREET SEWER
<br />A communication from Charles M. Maternowski, 726 Beale Street, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, under date of October 30, 1970, addressed to the Department of
<br />Public Works, in reference to the proposed Beale Street Sewer was read and
<br />ordered filed.
<br />REQUEST TO PARK MOBILE UNIT IN FRONT OF ROBERTSONS - INDIANA & MICHIGAN
<br />ELECTRIC COMPANY
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request of Indiana and Michigan
<br />Electric Company, 220 W. Colfax Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, to park a
<br />mobile unit in front of Robertson's Department Store November 16, 17 and 18,
<br />1970, was denied as being in violation of a City ordinance.
<br />REQUEST FOR "CLEAN-UP" ASSISTANCE - DOWNTOWN SOUTH BEND COUNCIL J
<br />A request from John Kagel of the Downtown South Bend Council, 320 W.
<br />Jefferson Street, South Bend, Indiana, for clean-up assistance in connection
<br />with the Holiday Parade on November 21, 1970, was filed with the Board. It
<br />was moved, seconded and carried that the Street Department furnish street
<br />sweepers to aid in such clean-up operations.
<br />STREET LIGHT REQUESTS
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request of Luella Myers,
<br />1325 Randolph Street, South Bernd, Indiana, and others,'for a street light:,
<br />on Randolph Street at the first alley east of Leer Street, was referred to
<br />the Traffic'Engineering Department for study and recommendation to the Board.
<br />STREET LIGHTING APPROVED
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />recommendations of the Traffic Engineering Department for relighting and
<br />modernizing street lighting in the following areas;
<br />The area bounded by Angela, Michigan and the river - at a cost of
<br />$863.40 per year.
<br />The area bounded by Ewing, Fellows, Farneman and Michigan - at a cost
<br />of $1,551.60 per year.
