9/14/70 <br />PARK DEPARTMENT - $50,000.00 "LAND" ACCOUNT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, a letter from Robert 0. Laven, <br />President of the Common Council, directing the reservation of $50,000.00 <br />in the Cumulative Capital Improvement Fund for the "Land" account of the <br />Park Department, was referred to the City Controller for appropriate action. <br />REQUEST TO HOLD CIRCUS PARADE - UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />request of Joe P. Sassano, Assistant Director, Athletic and Convocation Center, <br />University of Notre'Dame, Notre'Dame, Indiana, 46556, for permission to hold <br />a circus parade on September 17, 1970, at approximately 3:30 P. M., from <br />Garst and Prairie Streets, going north on Michigan Street to Angela Boulevard <br />and east on Angela to Juniper Road to the rear of the Convocation Center, on <br />condition that the Board be provided with evidence of proper insurance <br />coverage to hold the City of South Bend harmless. <br />TOPICS PROGRAM <br />r-1 It was moved, seconded and carried that the City of South Bend enter into <br />JO an agreement with Clyde E. Williams and Associates Inc., whereby Clyde E. <br />Williams and Associates, Inc., will render engineering services and technical <br />assistance in connection with a TOPICS program, subject to the availability <br />Q of funds. <br />SIDEWALK REPAIR AT R. R.—CROSSING, TWYCKENHAM DRIVE - REPORT <br />In reference to the request of Common Council President Robert 0. Laven re- <br />garding repair of the sidewalk on Twyckenham Drive at the Grand Trunk Railroad <br />crossing, Traffic Director Clem F. Hazinski reports meeting with the Grand Trunk <br />people and reports that a crew was assigned to repair the walk with new <br />planking and should be completed within a few days. <br />PARKING METER REPLACEMENT APPROVED <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommendation <br />of the Traffic Director for the replacement of parking meter #8 on the east <br />side of South Michigan Street just south of Sample Street. <br />TRAFFIC REGULATIONS APPROVED <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />following traffic regulations as recommended by the Traffic Engineering <br />Department: <br />1. Install 30 minute time limit signs, with right and left arrows, <br />in front of 1001 E. Jefferson Boulevard. <br />2. Install two-hour parking limit sign at 2611 S. Main Street. <br />3. Install no parking passenger loading zone signs on the east side <br />of the 1900 block of N. Brookfield, alongside Marquette School,. <br />limited to 150 feet. <br />4. Install stop sign and post on the northwest and on the southeast <br />corners of Ireland Road and Fellows Street. <br />5. Install two-hour parking limit signs at 1303 S. Michigan Street. <br />6. Replace stop sign and post on the southwest corner of Widener <br />Lane at Miami Street. <br />STREET LIGHT REQUEST <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request of residents of the800 <br />block of S. Kosciusko Street for a street light at the alley near Dunham <br />Street was referred to the Traffic Engineering Department for study and <br />recommendation. <br />
