I September 8, 1970 1 C� A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 A.M., on September 8, 1970, with all members present. FIRE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST TO ATTEND CONFERENCE Upon motion made, seconded and carried, and upon the recommendation of Fire Chief Joseph L. Z urat, authorization was given for Lt. Carl Zwierzynski to attend the Associated Public Safety Communication Officers 6onference September 17, 1970, in Anderson, Indiana. POLICE DEPARTMENT -PROMOTIONS Upon motion made, seconded and carried, and upon the recommendation of, Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert, the following promotions were approved; effective September 16, 1970: Corporal Raymond Woodward Corporal Ernest Busch Corporal Ernest Dobrzykowski Officer Larry Hostetler - to the rank of sergeant - to the rank of sergeant - to the .rank of sergeant - to the rank of sergeant POLICE DEPARTMENT - APPOINTMENT OF POLICE CADET Upon motion made, seconded and carried, and upon the recommendation of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert,,the appointment of Dennis Paul Randles as a Police Cadet was approved, effective September 16, 1970. POLICE DEPARTMENT - SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER APPOINTED - Upon motion made, seconded and carried, and upon the recommendation of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert, Robert Reid was appointed as a special police officer employed by Robertson's Department Store. WEIGHTS AND MEASURES DEPARTMENT - REPORT FOR AUGUST, 1970 The Report of Bert Cichowicz, City Sealer, for the month of August, 1970, was read and ordered filed. BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION J. W. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the following matters were taken up. 626 E. Keasey: Mrs. Alice Newman appeared before the Board as requested and is agreeable to the demolition of this structure by the City. Upon motion made, seconded and unanymously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids for demolition of the structure at 626 E. Keasey Street. 325 N. Hill Street. Mrs. Louise Van De Walle appeared before the Board as requested. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub - Standards Director -was authorized to seek bids for the demolition of the structure at 325 N. Hill Street. 2121 Kenwood Avenue. Servella Dowd did,not appear as requested. Mr. Adamson stated nothing has been heard from the owner other than a receipt for the certified letter mailed on August 25, 1970. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carr ed, the Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids for demolition of the structure at 2121 Kenwood Avenue. 922 E. Altgeld. Neither Leonard nor Margie Stanfield appeared before the Board as requested. Mr. Adamson states the building is on the rear of the lot, that it is open and.has been vandalized. Upon motion made seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids for demolition of the structure on the rear of the lot at 922 E. Altgeld Street. 521'-z S. Walnut Street. James A. Cole appeared before,the Board asrwrequested, and is willing for the building to be demolished by the City. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids for demolition of the structure at 5212 S. Walnut Street.
