I <br />September 8, 1970 <br />1 <br />C� <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 <br />A.M., on September 8, 1970, with all members present. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST TO ATTEND CONFERENCE <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, and upon the recommendation of Fire <br />Chief Joseph L. Z urat, authorization was given for Lt. Carl Zwierzynski <br />to attend the Associated Public Safety Communication Officers 6onference <br />September 17, 1970, in Anderson, Indiana. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT -PROMOTIONS <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, and upon the recommendation of, <br />Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert, the following promotions were approved; <br />effective September 16, 1970: <br />Corporal Raymond Woodward <br />Corporal Ernest Busch <br />Corporal Ernest Dobrzykowski <br />Officer Larry Hostetler <br />- to the rank of sergeant <br />- to the rank of sergeant <br />- to the .rank of sergeant <br />- to the rank of sergeant <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - APPOINTMENT OF POLICE CADET <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, and upon the recommendation of Chief <br />of Police Loren M. Bussert,,the appointment of Dennis Paul Randles as a <br />Police Cadet was approved, effective September 16, 1970. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER APPOINTED - <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, and upon the recommendation of Chief <br />of Police Loren M. Bussert, Robert Reid was appointed as a special police <br />officer employed by Robertson's Department Store. <br />WEIGHTS AND MEASURES DEPARTMENT - REPORT FOR AUGUST, 1970 <br />The Report of Bert Cichowicz, City Sealer, for the month of August, 1970, <br />was read and ordered filed. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION <br />J. W. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the <br />following matters were taken up. <br />626 E. Keasey: Mrs. Alice Newman appeared before the Board as requested and <br />is agreeable to the demolition of this structure by the City. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and unanymously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was <br />authorized to seek bids for demolition of the structure at 626 E. Keasey Street. <br />325 N. Hill Street. Mrs. Louise Van De Walle appeared before the Board as <br />requested. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub - <br />Standards Director -was authorized to seek bids for the demolition of the <br />structure at 325 N. Hill Street. <br />2121 Kenwood Avenue. Servella Dowd did,not appear as requested. Mr. Adamson <br />stated nothing has been heard from the owner other than a receipt for the <br />certified letter mailed on August 25, 1970. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />unanimously carr ed, the Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids <br />for demolition of the structure at 2121 Kenwood Avenue. <br />922 E. Altgeld. Neither Leonard nor Margie Stanfield appeared before the Board <br />as requested. Mr. Adamson states the building is on the rear of the lot, that <br />it is open and.has been vandalized. Upon motion made seconded and unanimously <br />carried, the Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids for demolition <br />of the structure on the rear of the lot at 922 E. Altgeld Street. <br />521'-z S. Walnut Street. James A. Cole appeared before,the Board asrwrequested, <br />and is willing for the building to be demolished by the City. Upon motion <br />made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was authorized <br />to seek bids for demolition of the structure at 5212 S. Walnut Street. <br />
