172-27,'- <br />July 6, 1970 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 <br />A.M., with all members present. The minutes of the previous meeting were <br />reviewed and approved. <br />BIDS OPENED - CLEVELAND ROAD SEWER <br />This being the date set for receiving bids for the construction of approximately <br />700 linear feet of 21 inch vitrified clay sewer on Cleveland Road, the Clerk <br />tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the <br />Tri County News on June 19 and June 26, 1970, which were read.and found to be <br />proper. The following bids were received: <br />Cowles Construction Company, Elkhart, Indiana. Non collusion affidavit was <br />found to be proper. The bid was accompanied by a bid bond of 5% of the bid. <br />Financial statement of bidder (Form 96-a) being on file in the office of the <br />Board of Public Works and Safety. Total bid - $14,924.00. Completion time <br />90 days. <br />Dye Plumbing and Heating, 712 Madison Street, LaPorte, Indiana. Non collusion <br />affidavit was found to be proper. Bid was accompanied by a bid bond of 5% of <br />the bid, together with financial statement of bidders (Form 96-a). Total <br />bid - $18,707.00. Completion time 60 days. <br />Haskins, Inc., 64704 U.S. #31, Lakeville, Indiana, 46536. Non collusion affi- <br />davit was found to be proper. Bid was accompanied by a bank draft in the <br />amount of $800.00, together with financial statement of bidders (Form 96-a). <br />Total bid $15,396.00. <br />Woodruff Sons, Inc., P. 0. Box 315, Michigan City, Indiana, 46360. Non <br />collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was accompanied by a bid <br />bond of 5% of the bid. Total bid - $14,606.00. Completion time 20 days. <br />NO BIDS RECEIVED - THREE -WHEEL MOTORCYCLES <br />This being he date set for receiving bids for four (more or less) three <br />wheel motorcycles for the Police Department, the Clerk tendered proofs of <br />publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News, which <br />were read and found to be proper. <br />No bids having been received, it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried <br />that the Police Department be authorized to seek quotations on the open market <br />for four (more -or less) three -wheel motorcycles. <br />NO BIDS RECEIVED - RADIOS FOR THREE -WHEEL MOTORCYCLES <br />This being the date set for receiving bids for four (more or less) radios <br />for three -wheel motorcycles for the Police Department, proofs of publication <br />of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News on June 26 and <br />July 3, 1970, having been read and found sufficient, and no bids having <br />been received, it was moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the Police <br />Department be authorized to seek quotations on the open market for four (more <br />or less) radios for three wheel motorcycles. <br />F1.RE DEPARTMENT - RESIGNATION OF RICHARD L. HEIDRICH <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board accepted and <br />approved the resignation of Richard L. Heidrich from the South Bend Fire De- <br />partment effective July 5, 1970. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - EXCUSED FOR MILITARY DUTY <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, upon the.approval of <br />Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert, the Board approved the requests of officers <br />Robert L. Lanchsweerdt and Ernest Nybo to be excused for military duty at Camp <br />McCoy, Wisconsin, from July 11 to July 25, 1970. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATIONS FOR APPOINTMENT <br />The applications of Dennis Paul Graber and Leonard Michael Grummell for appoint- <br />ment to the South Bend Police Department were filed with the Board and referred <br />to the Personnel Director for further processing. <br />1 <br />HEARING ON ASSESSMENT ROLL - VACATION RESOLUTION NO. 3314 - SOUTH BEND RANGE CORP. <br />
