FIRE DEPARTMENT - REQUEST TO ATTEND INDIANA FIREFIGHTERS ASSN MEETING Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the request for Captain William Schmidt to attend and address the Indiana Fire- fighters Association meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana, on July 9, 1970. FIRE DEPARTMENT - RE -QUEST TO PRESENT DEMONSTRATION AT DECATUR, MICHIGAN Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the request of Fire Chief Joseph L. Zurat for officers Daniel Plencner, Victor Richart and Joseph Jelinski to present an instructive demonstration to the American Red Cross summer aquatic school at Lake of the Woods, Decatur, Michigan, June 18, 1970, on first aid and rescue. FIRE DEPARTMENT - APPOINTMENT OF WALTER JAMES WEST Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the recommendation of Fire Chief'=Joseph L. Zurat'-for the appointment of Walter James West to the South Bend Fire Department, effective June 15, 1970. FIRE DEPARTMENT - APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT The applications of Frank Murphy and Wendeline James Switalski for appointment to the South Bend, Fire Department were filed with the Board and referred to the Personnel Director for further processing. 1 1 1
