<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, contract for demolition
<br />of the structure at 117 E. Elder Street was awarded to O'Neal Trucking Company on its
<br />low bid of $975.00.
<br />Request for owners of sub -standard properties to appear before Board 6/15/70
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request of the Sub -Standards Director for the following persons to appear
<br />before the Board on June 15, 1970, to show cause, if any they have, why the
<br />following properties should not be demolished:
<br />2227 Smith Street - Board of County Commissioners
<br />1223 S. Carroll Street - Benjamin H. and Claudice M. Stovall
<br />1325 Liston Street - Cecelia Woznicki (widow of Kazimierz Woznicki)
<br />And the Clerk was directed to so notify said owners by certified mail.
<br />,--1 712-714 E. Washington. Mrs. Virginia Vairo, 711 E. Washington Street, South
<br />gp Bend, Indiana, appeared before the Board and complained of the condition of
<br />6. the property at 712-714 E. Washington Street. Mr. Adamson reported this
<br />00 property has been posted as unfit for human habitation and the Sub -Standards
<br />QDepartment is endeavoring torelocate the two families living there.

<br />The annual report of the St. Joseph County Health Department for 1969 was
<br />reviewed and ordered filed.
<br />APPLICATION FOR TAXICAB STAND - INDIANA DELUXE CAB CORPORATION
<br />The application of Bert Liss on behalf of Indiana Deluxe Cab Corporation for
<br />a taxicab stand, two cab lengths, in the 2600 block of West Washington Street
<br />on the south side of the street at the South Shore Railroad Terminal
<br />Building, upon motion made,,seconded and carried, was referred to the
<br />Traffic Engineering Department for review and recommendation.
<br />CITY ENGINEER'S RECOMMENDATION
<br />ORDER FOR PRELIMINARY,PLANS
<br />ON THE PETITION OF FRED DITTMAN - FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF GERTRUDE STREET
<br />City Engineer Lloyd S. Taylor files with the Board his recommendation for
<br />the improvement of Gertrude Street, from Prairie Avenue to Ewing Street,
<br />by constructing a Class C pavement with curbs and street widening, on the
<br />petition of Fred Dittman.
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approves said recommendation
<br />and directs Clyde E. Williams and Associates, Inc., consulting -engineers,
<br />to prepare preliminary plans, estimates and a resolution for such improvement.

<br />TURNKEY BUILDERS, INC.
<br />Lloyd S. Taylor, City Engineer, files assessment roll, showing award of
<br />damages and assessment of benefits in Vacation Resolution No. 3312, being
<br />for the vacation of:
<br />Phillipa Street from the north line of Indiana Avenue
<br />extending north 106 feet to an unused alley, as shown
<br />on the recorded plat of South Bend Industrial Addition.
<br />Reserving the rights of all public utilities and the Municipal
<br />City of South Bend, Indiana, to construct and maintain any facilities, in-
<br />cluding, but not limited to, the following: electric, telephone, gas, water,
<br />sewer, surface water control structures and ditches, within the vacated right
<br />of way, unless such rights are released by the individual utilities.
<br />The following property may be injuriously or beneficially affected
<br />by such vacation:
<br />Lots numbered 10 and 11 of South Bend Industrial Addition.
