<br />There being no other bids, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried,
<br />the bids were referred to the Board of Park Commissioners for review and
<br />recommendation.
<br />UNIFORMS - POLICE DEPARTMENT AND FIRE DEPARTMENT
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the re-
<br />quest of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert for permission to advertise for bids for
<br />uniforms for the Police Department for the period from June 1, 1970, to June 1,
<br />1971.
<br />It was further moved, seconded and carried, that the Fire Department be
<br />authorized and directed to advertise for bids for uniforms for the period from
<br />June 1, 1970 to June 1, 1971.
<br />June 15, 1970 was set as the time for receiving bids, and the Clerk was
<br />directed to give notice by publication in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri
<br />County News on June 5 and June 12, 1970.
<br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION
<br />J. W. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, appeared before the Board and the
<br />following matters were taken up.
<br />711 Cottage Grove. A letter from John 0. Wilson, 15090 Stahelin Road, Detroit,
<br />Michigan, son of the deceased owner of this property, indicating the property
<br />is for sale and they are trying to keep it closed, was reviewed by the Board.
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter was continued
<br />four weeks to allow the owner to secure the structure.
<br />305 E. Wenger. Neither Alonzo nor Georgia Johnson appeared before the Board as
<br />requested. Mr. Adamson stated the property has been under surveillance of the
<br />Sub -Standards Department since 1965 and has been vacant for some time. Upon
<br />motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the matter was continued one week
<br />for reply from the owners and for a picture of the premises.
<br />1022 W. Napier Street. Neither Raymond nor Joan Cieslik appeared before the
<br />Board as requested. Mr. Adamson stated nothing has been heard from the owners;
<br />that the building is open, and has been vacant for several months. Upon
<br />motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was
<br />authorized to seek bids for demolition of the structures at 1022 Napier Street.
