June 1, 1970 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:35 A.M., <br />on June 1, 1970, with all members present. The minutes of the previous two <br />meetings were reviewed and approved. <br />OPEN BIDS FOR DRAINAGE FACILITIES AND STREET IMPROVEMENT - CHIPPEWA AT MAIN <br />This being the date set for opening bids for the construction of drainage <br />facilities and street improvement on Chippewa Avenue at Main Street, the Clerk <br />tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri <br />County News on May 22 and May 29, 1970, which were found to be sufficient. <br />The following bids were received: <br />McIntyre & Jones Construction Company, Inc., 2526 W. 6th Street, Mishawaka, <br />Indiana. Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was accompanied <br />by a bid bond in the amount of 5% of the total bid. <br />Total bid-----------------------$19,841.10 <br />Rieth-Riley Construction Co., Inc., P. 0. Box 775, South Bend, Indiana, 46624. <br />Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was accompanied by a <br />bid bond of 5% of the total bid. <br />Total bid-----------------------$18,984.50 <br />There being no other bids, upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the <br />bids were referred to the City Engineer for review and recommendation. <br />OPEN BIDS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF BARN - POTAWATOMIE PARK <br />This being the date set for receiving bids for the construction of a display barn <br />at Potawatomie Park, the Chairman explained that bids were being received by <br />the Board of Public Works and Safety, for the Board of Park Commissioners, <br />because funds for the project are to be paid from the cumulative capital improve- <br />ment fund. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of notice in the South <br />Bend Tribune and the Tri County News on May 22 and May 21, 1970, which were <br />found to be sufficient. The following bids were received: <br />B & G Construction Company, Inc., 1025 W. llth Street, Mishawaka, Indiana, <br />46544. Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was accompanied <br />by a bid bond of 5% of the total bid, together with Form No. 96-a (financial <br />statement of bidder). The bid was as follows: <br />Total bid---------------------------------$509985.00 <br />Alternate G-1 Deduct $ 318.00 <br />Alternate G-2 Deduct 918.00 <br />Alternate G-3 Deduct 624.00 <br />Muia Construction Company, 1818 S. Main Street, South Bend, Indiana, 46613. <br />Non collusion affidavit was found to be proper. The bid was accompanied by a <br />bid bond of 5% of the total bid, together with Form No. 96-a (financial state- <br />ment of bidder).
