<br />CLEVELAND ROAD SEWER EXTENSION AGREEMENT
<br />Contract on Form 97-A for the Cleveland Road Sewer Extension was submitted
<br />by Kent S. Kaser, engineer, wad approved and ordered filed.
<br />FINAL ORDER FOR
<br />SS C. TYPE-[ PAVEMENT, CONTRACT AWARDED - IMPROVEMENT
<br />, 19 9 --ALLEY 200 BLOCK NOTRE DAME
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the preliminary order
<br />designating Class C, Type I, pavement for the improvement -of the alley in
<br />the 200 block of Notre Dame, from Notre Dame to St. Peter Street, was con-
<br />firmed as passed and the street ordered paved with Class C, Type I, pavement.
<br />Having considered all bids received on April 20, 1970, and being duly ad-
<br />vised, the motion was made, seconded and unanimously carried to award contract
<br />for said improvement to McIntyre and Jones as the lowest and best bidder, and
<br />notice was given to said McIntyre and Jones to proceed with the improvement.
<br />REQUEST TO CLOSE WASHINGTON STREET - AMERICAN NATIONAL BANK & TRUST COMPANY
<br />FOR "TOPPING OFF" CEREMONIES
<br />Upon recommendation of the Traffic Director, the request of the American
<br />National Bank and Trust Company to close Washington Street, from Main to
<br />Lafayette Boulevard, during its "topping off" ceremonies was denied, and,
<br />instead, to rope off the sidewalk area adjacent to the courthouse.
<br />REQUEST TO CLOSE ALLEY FOR FISH FRY - APOSTOLIC TEMPLE CHURE H
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request of .the Apostolic Temple Church, 2221 S. Ironwood Drive, South Bend,
<br />Indiana, to close the east -west alley on the north side of the Apostolic
<br />Temple Church for a fish fry on June 27, 1970.
<br />REQUEST TO SELL BUDDY POPPIES - VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request of South Bend Post No. 1167, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 1047 Lincolnway
<br />East, South Bend, Indiana, to sell Buddy Poppies on the downtown streets of
<br />South Bend on May 22 and 23, 1970, with the approval of the Charitable
<br />Solicitations Commission.
<br />REQUEST FOR ABANDONED AUTOMOBILES FOR TEACHING AIDS - INDIANA VOCATIONAL
<br />TECHNICAL COLLEGE
<br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the
<br />request of Robert Baughman, on behalf of Indiana Vocational Technical College,
<br />1534 W. Sample Street, South Bend, Indiana, for the use,aof the following
<br />abandoned automobiles as teaching aids and experiment by students:
<br />1960 Buick 4 door sedan, Serial No. 7G4010127 (white)
<br />1960 Chevrolet 4 door Wagon, Serial No. 01235F241716 (white)
<br />COMPLAINT OF BURNING STUMPS - CLEVELAND ROAD RESIDENTS
<br />Councilwoman Janet Allen presented a complaint by residents on Cleveland Road
<br />concerning the excessive burning of stumps, etc., at the tree burning site.
<br />The Clerk was directed to notify the Park Department of the complaint and
<br />suggest that a more remote site be used.
<br />SAMPLE STREET BRIDGE CLOSED TO TRUCK TRAFFIC BY ST. JOSEPH COUNTY
<br />William Richardson, St. Joseph County Engineer, appeared before the Board
<br />and advised that the Sample Bridge is being closed to truck traffic
<br />following an inspection of the structure.
<br />MODEL OF APOLLO SPACE CRAFT TO BE EXHIBITED
<br />John Kagel, Executive Director, Downtown South Bend Council, South Bend -
<br />Mishawaka Area Chamber of Commerce, Inc., 320 W. Jefferson Boulevard,
<br />South Bend, Indiana, appeared before the Board and advised of plans being
<br />made through the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, to exhibit
<br />a model of the Apollo Space Craft in South Bend from June 5, to July 5, 1970.
