i <br />3/16/70 <br />in Chapin's Subdivision of Bank Out Lot 182, and running <br />south from the south line of Lincolnway West to the south- <br />east corner of Lot No. 2 and the southwest corner of Lot <br />No. 4, in Chapin's Subdivision. <br />Proofs of publication in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News on <br />the 27th day of February and the 6th day of March, 1970, were tendered by the <br />Clerk and fo6nd to be sufficient. <br />Appearing before the Board were the petitioner, Donald F. Hickey; attorney <br />John Montgomery, representing 0. C. Smith; 0. C. Smith, Argos, Indiana, <br />owner of 427 West LaSalle Street; Dale Weaver, contract buyer from 0. C. <br />Smith of 427 West LaSalle Street; Frank Sindlinger, 1725 Oak Park Drive, <br />South Bend, Indiana; George Kirchmeyer and William H. Rajski, 623 Cottage <br />Grove, South Bend, Indiana. <br />Mr. Sindlinger voiced the concern of those present that if this alley is <br />closed it will create two dead end alleys. Mr. Hickey stated he will pro- <br />vide an easement across the back of Lots One and Two to connect the two <br />alleys and the property owners present were agreeable to the vacation on <br />this condition. No one further appearing for or against said vacation <br />and no written remonstrances having been received; the motion was made, <br />seconded and unanimously carried to approve the vacation resolution con- <br />tingent upon the petitioner Donald F. Hickey providing an easement across <br />the back of Lots One and Two to connect the two alleys as provided by the <br />petition. <br />COMMUNICATION FROM DOWNTOWN SOUTH BEND COUNCIL RE EXHIBITION OF MOON ROCK <br />A communication from John Kagel, executive director of the Downtown South <br />Bend Council, 320 W. Jefferson Boulevard, South Bend, Indiana, in reference <br />to the exhibition of an N.A.S.A. "moon rock" in the lobby of the County <br />City Building for one week commencing March 28, 1970, was read. It was <br />moved, seconded and unanimously carried that the South Bend Police Depart- <br />ment be directed to cooperate with the St. Joseph County Sheriff's office <br />in establishing guards during the time the moon rock is on exhibit. <br />PARKING RESTRICTIONS APPROVED - 200 BLOCK W. ECKMAN <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />recommendation of the Traffic Engineering Department to prohibit parking <br />on the south side of Eckman Street, from Main'west to the Penn Central <br />Railroad; and to prohibit parking on the west side of Main Street for a <br />distance of 30 feet, from the crosswalk line at the north and south approaches. <br />REMOVAL OF STREET LIGHTS APPROVED - IRONWOOD DRIVE <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the <br />recommendation of the Traffic Engineering Department for the removal of <br />three 4000L INC OH WP lights, in view of the recent relighting of Ironwood <br />Drive from Lincolnway East to the Bridge. <br />CONTRACTORS' BONDS CANCELLED <br />Notice of cancellation of contractor's bond #4284027 on behalf of John Vanek <br />by the Western Surety Company was accepted and ordered filed. <br />Notice of cancellation of contractor's bond #1 149 226 on behalf of Arthur <br />E. Skwarcan by the 0 HIO Casualty-4neutance Company was accepted and ordered <br />filed. <br />CONTRACTORS' BONDS <br />Certificate continuing contractor's bond for Christian Wambach to 4/6/71 and <br />certificate continuing contractor's bond for Donald Marshall to 1/l/71 were <br />approved and ordered filed. <br />
