4 25 <br />August 28, 1972 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened on <br />Monday, August 28, 1972 at 9:30 A.M. All members were present. Minutes <br />of the last meeting were reviewed and approved. <br />BIDS OPENED - NORTH BENDIX DRIVE IMPROVEMENT <br />This being the date set for receiving bids for the construction of the <br />North Bendix Drive Pavement, the following bids were opened and read: <br />Rieth-Riley Construction Company <br />P. 0. Box 775, <br />South Bend, Indiana 46624 <br />Non -Collusion affidavit was found to be in proper order. The bid was <br />not read item by item, but the Chairman announced it was open for in- <br />spection by any interested person. <br />Total bid price $123,365.00 <br />McIntyre & Jones Construction Co., <br />2526 West 6th Street <br />e--! Mishawaka, Indiana <br />Non -collusion affidavit was found to be in proper order. The bid was <br />not read item by item, but the Chairman announced it was open for in- <br />spection by any interested person. <br />Total bid price $122,934.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bids were sent to the Eng- <br />ineering Department for tabulation immediately. <br />1 <br />1 <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Chief Bland was present and matters pertaining to his department were <br />discussed. <br />APPLICATIONS FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Applications for the Fire Department were examined and directed filed with <br />the Personnel Department for the following: <br />Thomas John Bajdek Daniel Edward Jaronik,Jr. <br />Terry Ldon Cline James Allen Michalski <br />Gary Dean Comer <br />SUMMONS FILED ON CAUSE NO F 3869 FIREMEN'S PENSION PLAN <br />Copies of Summons filed sfiowed a suit against the Board of Trustees' <br />of Firemen's Pension Fund and Jack R. Bland, Fire Chief by John C. <br />Borkowski, et al. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter <br />was referred to the Legal Department for appropriate action. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Chief Seals appeared before the Board and matters pertaining to his <br />Department were discussed. <br />CAPTAIN JAMES SWEITZER TO CONFERENCE <br />A request was received from Chief Seals asking permission for Captain <br />James Sweitzer to attend a Traffic Court Conference on August 28 to <br />30 at Indianapolis,indiana. Costs except transportation and two meals <br />daily to be paid by thelndiana Department of Traffic Safety and Vehicle <br />Inspection. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board granted <br />the Chief's request and permission was granted. <br />
