403 <br />8/7/72 <br />LETTER FROM COUNCILMAN KOPSZYNSK_I_RE: TORRINGTON AND ROACH-APPLETON <br />A letter was received from Councilman Walter Kopczynski complaining <br />that trucks hauling steel shavings from Torrington Company and, stampings <br />from the Roach -Appleton Company have been dropping these scraps along <br />the city streets causing damage to vehicle tires. Upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, the Glerk was directed to write to both companies <br />asking them to clean truck frames and bodies and not overload their <br />trucks. <br />COMPLAINT 1902 SOUTH MICHIGAN STREET <br />A complaint was received from the Health Department about the condition <br />of the property at 1902 South Michigan Street, alleging that dirt, <br />oil and other material was aloud to run across the sidewalk and clog <br />the sewer and that otherwise the property was maintained in an improper <br />manner. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter was referred <br />to the Legal Department for investigation and report. <br />LETTER FROM ST. JOSEPH COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT RE: WEEDS <br />A letter was received from the.St. Joseph County Health Bepartment <br />G� stating that owners of several parcels of land have been notified to <br />have the weeds cut but have not complied.. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the Board directed this to be sent to the Legal Department <br />for further action. Lots in question are lst lot west of 1106 McCartney <br />Street, owners Walter & Jennie ailjawski; 146 N. Kenmore, owners Irving <br />J. & Florence Smith; 1249 Joyce Drive, owners Jerome & Betty Dylewski; <br />across from 2107 N. Ol.ive, sent letter to Park Department; next to 2131 <br />N. Olive, seetiletter to Park Department and West side of Polaad Street, <br />owner St. Joseph County. <br />NOTICE FROM ST. JOSEPH COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT: WEEDS ON CITY OWNED PROPERTY <br />A notice was received from the St. Joseph County Health Department stating <br />that a piece of property owned by the city is overgrown with weeds. Upon <br />motion made, seconded and carried, the Board directed the Street Department <br />to have the weeds cut. <br />MEMO FROM HEALTH DEPARTMENT RE: ROCKNE AND MADISON STREETS <br />A memo was received from the St. Joseph County Health Department stating <br />they had checked the property at the corner of Rockne Drive and Madison <br />Streets and found no weeds. <br />WHITEFORD LEASING CORPORATION <br />Mr. Ron Whiteford of Whiteford Leasing Corporation was present at the <br />meeting and informed the Board of his intentions i,n fixing up the lot <br />at 2020 West Sample Street with a concrete driveway and crushed stone <br />on the lot. It was suggested that this would not comply with the law. <br />It was brought to the attention of the Board that several companies on <br />West Sample street have the same conditions at the Whiteford Leasing <br />Corporation. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the matter was <br />referred to the Legal Department for the purpose of researching into <br />the question of the pre-existing use of the request for parking lots <br />under the old zoning ordinance 40-41C and Section 20-9. <br />LETTER FROM PENN CENTRAL TRANSPORTATION COMPANY <br />A letter was received from Penn Central Transportation Company stating <br />that they have reissued instructions to the Engine Crews to shut engines <br />off when stored on the engine storage track. They will be shut off until <br />late fall when it will be necessary to leave the engines running to keep them <br />from freezing. At this time, however, storm windows should be in and <br />residents should not be annoyed at the sound. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the letter was ordered filed. <br />
