329 <br />June 5, 1972 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened on <br />Monday, June 5, 1972 at 9:30 A.M. Ali members were present. Minutes of <br />the last meeting were read and approved. <br />COMPLAINT - MRS. JANET ALLEN <br />Mrs. Janet Alien appeared before the Board to complain that a house at <br />the corner of Elwood and Olive Streets is being used for a purpose for <br />which it has no permission, and that it is only partially on a comer <br />cial lot. The business is being run by Edward Szczesniak, who lives <br />at 922 North College Street. He originally was given permission to have <br />a candy store, but is presently running a carry -out food business and <br />is allowing parking on part of the lot. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />carried, this was referred to the'Legal Department. <br />COMPLAINT OF MRS. LEE SWAN <br />Mrs. Lee Swan, 2022 South Swygart Street appeared before the Board to <br />complain about the trucks using Ewing Avenue. This was, upon motion made, <br />seconded and carried, referred to the Engineering Department. <br />e-i <br />2lJ BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB STANDARDS DIVISION <br />C.) 1631 South Franklin Street Mr. Liszewski, who was present, requested <br />a continuation of one week in this matter. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the matter was:,continued for one week. <br />672 LaPorte Avenue <br />Mr. Jerry Davis appeared before the Board and asked for an extension <br />of time before the demolition of this building. Upon motion made, seconded <br />and carried, the Board instructed Mr. Liszewski to seek bids for the <br />demolition of the structure at 672 LaPorte Avenue. <br />140 East North -Shore Drive Mr. Liszewski was granted permission to notify <br />the owners to appear before the Board to show cause why the structure at <br />140 East North Shore Drive should not be demolished. <br />21641 West Victoria Street Mr. Liszewski was granted permission to <br />notify the owners to appear before the Board to show cause why the structure <br />at 21641 West Victoria Street should not be demolished. <br />711 George Avenue Mr. Liszewski was granted permission to notify the <br />owners to appear before the Board to show cause why the structure at 711 <br />George Avenue should not be demolished. <br />2405 Kenwood Avenue Mr. Liszewski was granted permission to notify the <br />owners to appear before the Board to show cause why the structure;;at <br />2405 Kenwood Avenue should not be dmolished. <br />832 East Indiana Avenue This matter, upon the recommendation of Mr. Liszewski <br />was continued for one week. <br />1219 Whiteman Court Mr. Durwood Elliott, 1130 East Cedar Street, appeared <br />as the buyer on land contract of this property. He asked for an extension <br />of time because he is waiting for an insurance settlement. He was advised <br />to contact his attorney, Mr. Joseph Ettle, to inform him that Mr. Liszewski <br />was instructed to seek bids for the demolition of the structure at 1219 <br />Whiteman Court. Mr. Gerard Feeney, Attorney representing the owners, Gordon <br />and Virginia Byer, said this was satisfactory, as the insurance settlement <br />should be made by that time. <br />1123 East Donald Street "Mr. Karl Dubail having been instructed to appear <br />before the Board, ;;and Mr. Liszewski having informed the Board that no <br />receipt showing the registered letter had been delivered, having been re- <br />ceived, this matter is now continued for one month. <br />
