289 <br />May 8, 1972 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened <br />at 9:30 A.M. on Monday, May $, 1972. Those present were James V. <br />Barcome, City Controller, member and William J. Richardson, City <br />Engineer, member. Also present was Kevin Butler, representing the <br />Legal Department. <br />Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Chief Bland was present and matters pertaining to his department <br />were discussed. <br />RETIREMENT OF RALPH SZCZEPANSKI <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried the Board approved <br />the retirement of Firefighter Ralph Szczepanski as of May 5, 1972, <br />upon the recommendation of the Chief. <br />EXTENSION OF SICK LEAVE - JOHN VIGH <br />T-4 Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved <br />M the recommendation of Chief Bland and extended the sick leave of John <br />U Vigh till the end of May. <br />v POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the <br />recommendation of Chief Seals and granted permission to Cadet Kenneth <br />E.-McDonald, Jr, to be absent for Active fluty Training at Fort Dix, New <br />Jersey and Fort Lee, Virginia, for a period of 5 to 6 months commencing <br />May 15, 1972. <br />SPECIAL POLICE BOND - MIA MARIE VAN KIRK <br />Upon recommendation of the City Attorney, the Special Police Bond <br />of Mia Maria Van Kirk was approved by the Board. <br />SPECIAL POLICE COMMISSION - JOSEPH L. SCHUBERT, <br />By request of the Board, Mr. Joseph L. Schubert appeared and was question- <br />ed with regard to his Special Police Commission. The matter was taken <br />under advisement for one week until the next meeting. <br />BIDS FOR ALTERATIONS AT MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM <br />GENERAL CONSTRUCTION <br />All non -collusion affidavits and bid bonds were found to be in proper <br />order. Proofs of publication of notice to bidders were tendered by <br />the clerk and found to be sufficient. <br />AULM CONSTRUCTION CO. INC.
