283 <br />May 1, 1972 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at <br />9:30 A.M. on Monday, May 1, 1972, with all members present. The minutes <br />of the previous meeting were read and approved. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Chief Robert W. Seals appeared before the Board and the following <br />matters in his department were discussed. <br />RESIGNATION OF ALAN T. HILDEBRAND <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the recommen- <br />dation of Chief Seals that the resignation of Alan T. Hildebrand be <br />accepted from the Cadet Program as of May 1, 1972. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />Chief Jack Bland,,appeared before the Board and the following matters <br />pertaining to his department were discussed. - <br />RETIREMENT OF EUGENE E. RADECKI <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board accepted the recommend- <br />ation of Chief Bland to accept the retirement of Firefighter Eugene E. <br />Radecki from the Fire Department effective May 1, 1972. <br />USE OF FIRE TRUCK IN PARADES <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried the Board approved the request <br />of Chief Bland for the use of a Fire Truck in a West Side Parade on <br />May 29, 1972 and in a'Model Neighborhood Planning Agency Election <br />Parage onJune 24, 1972. <br />BIDS FOR PINHOOK LAGOON PROJECT <br />This being the date set for receiving bids for pipe and fittings for <br />the drain from the Wastewater Treatment Plant to the Pinhook Park <br />Lagoon, the following bids were opened: <br />Howell Construction Company, Inc. <br />III East Windsor Street <br />Elkhart, Indiana 46514 Total Price $9,120.00 <br />Non -Collusion affidavit and bid bond were found to be in proper order, <br />and were declared to be sufficient. <br />Armco Steel Corporation <br />3202 West Sample Street <br />South Bend, Indiana 46621, Total Price $9,633.00 <br />Non -Collusion affidavit and certified check in the mount of #585.00 <br />accompanied bid and were found to be sufficient. <br />Logansport Metal Culvert Co. Inc., <br />220 Hanna Street <br />Logansport, Indiana Total Price $10,374.00 <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the bid was awarded <br />to Howell Construction Company, Inc., on its low bid. <br />MUNICIPAL PARKING FACILITIES <br />Mr. Stanley Hull, Director, appeared before the Board and the following <br />matters were discussed. <br />Mr. Hull informed the Board that he would like to lease what -is known <br />as the Honda Lot at the Southwest corner of St. Joseph Street and Lincoln <br />Way East for parking purposes. This, in turn, could be leased to the <br />St. JosephBank for parking for their employees. <br />
