272 April 17, 1972 REQUEST OF UNIT 50 AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY TO HOLD POPPY SALE American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 50,'503 E. Indiana Avenue, South Bend, Indiana request permission to sell pppppies on the streets of South Bend on May 19 and May 20, 1972. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, said request was approved subject to the approval of the Charitable Solicitations Commission. BID FOR VEHICLE FOR PARKING METER DEPARTMENT Freeman -Spicer Company, 520 S. Lafayette Blvd., South Bend, Indiana, sub- mits its letter bid for a vehicle for the South Bend Parking Meter De- partment as follows: 1972 Plymouth Suburban 2 Seat 4 Door Station Wagon 318 Engine V-8 Automatic Transmission Power Steering Total Price $3086.90 Profit 100.00 $31W. 00 1000.00 Allowance on 167 Ford Net difference $21W.90 This being the only bid received, upon motion made, seconded and unanimous- ly carried, the bi&was awarded to the Freeman -Spicer Company and the Parking Meter Department is directed to prepare a purchase order. AWARDING OF BIDS FOR STREET DEPARTMENT MATERIALS Bids having been received for street materials on March 13, 1972 and taken under advisement, the Board now, upon motion made. seconded and unanimously carried, awards the following bids for street materials for the South Bend Street Department:: SEE PAGE 272-A These bids being, in the Boards opinion, in the best Interests of the City of South Bend. BONDS OF CONTRACTORS APPROVED Upon motions made, seconded and carried, Contractors Bonds for the fol- lowing were approved: Roy C. Mumford d/b/a. Mumford Construction Co. to 4/12/73 Edward F. Soltesz to 4/14/73 Art Cherry to 4/1/73 Upon motion made, seconded and carried, an Excavation for was approved for: Alex C. Niezgodski,.Jr. to January 1, 1973 And upon motion made, seconded and carried a Continuation Certificate for an Excatation Bond was approved as follows: Verlin V. Engle, d/b/a Engle Construction Co. to 5/19/73 REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES - DIV. OF TRAFFIC ENGINEERING Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the requests submitted by the Traffic Division of the Engineering department for "Police Parking Only" signs to be posted on the west side of 100 S. Main Street, from the drive to the County -City Building to a point approximately 751 north and for 2-60 minute parking meters to be installed on the west side of S. Main Street (2 metered spaces north of the County -City Building drive) were referred back to the Engineering Department for further study and recommendation.
