2651 <br />April 10, 1972 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at <br />9:30 A,M, on Monday, April 10, 1972. All members were present. Minutes <br />of the last meeting were read and reviewed.. <br />LETTER FROM INDIANA STATE PRISON <br />A letter was received from Russell E. Lash, Warden of Indiana State <br />Prison asking about the possibility'of purchasing used,fire trucks <br />and hoses from the City. This was referred to Chief Bland and to <br />the Legal Department to see whether or not it is possible, if there <br />are trucks to be retired. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Chief Seats was present and matters pertaining to his department <br />were discussed. <br />RESIGNATION OF NESTER PAUL STACHOWICZ <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the resignation <br />of Nester Paul.Stachowicz from the South Bend P611ce Department was <br />ed4 approved as of April 15, 1972. <br />r-I <br />PROMOTION OF JOHN LEADER TO CAPTAIN <br />Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the recommendation <br />of Chief Seals for the promotion of Detective Sergeant John Leader to <br />the rank of Captain, effective April 15, 1972, was approved. <br />PROMOTIONS IN POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />The following letter was presented by the Chief: <br />April 7, 1972 <br />Board of Public Works and Safety <br />County City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />It is respectfully requested that the below listed personnel of this <br />department_ be promoted to the rank of corporal based upon the fact <br />that they have now reached that point in seniority upon which the <br />subject rank is primarily based and the fact that.each of the below <br />named has been recommended by their commanding officer for such <br />promotion. <br />It is respectfully recommended that such promotions take effect <br />April 16, 1972: <br />Officer Thomas Balogh <br />Officer Paul Jewell <br />Officer James Linville <br />Officer Michael Palmiter <br />BIDS - PARKING METER DEPARTMENT <br />This being the date set for receiving sealed bids for a vehicle for <br />the Parking meter Department, and no bids having been received, the <br />Supervisor of the Parking Meter Department, Julius Berta, is now <br />directed to ask for letter bids for the purchase of a vehicle-, <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB STANDARDS DIVISION <br />Mr. Richard Liszewski, Director, was present and matters pertaining <br />to his department were discussed. <br />
