2651 April 10, 1972 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 A,M, on Monday, April 10, 1972. All members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and reviewed.. LETTER FROM INDIANA STATE PRISON A letter was received from Russell E. Lash, Warden of Indiana State Prison asking about the possibility'of purchasing used,fire trucks and hoses from the City. This was referred to Chief Bland and to the Legal Department to see whether or not it is possible, if there are trucks to be retired. POLICE DEPARTMENT Chief Seats was present and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. RESIGNATION OF NESTER PAUL STACHOWICZ Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the resignation of Nester Paul.Stachowicz from the South Bend P611ce Department was ed4 approved as of April 15, 1972. r-I PROMOTION OF JOHN LEADER TO CAPTAIN Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the recommendation of Chief Seals for the promotion of Detective Sergeant John Leader to the rank of Captain, effective April 15, 1972, was approved. PROMOTIONS IN POLICE DEPARTMENT The following letter was presented by the Chief: April 7, 1972 Board of Public Works and Safety County City Building South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: It is respectfully requested that the below listed personnel of this department_ be promoted to the rank of corporal based upon the fact that they have now reached that point in seniority upon which the subject rank is primarily based and the fact that.each of the below named has been recommended by their commanding officer for such promotion. It is respectfully recommended that such promotions take effect April 16, 1972: Officer Thomas Balogh Officer Paul Jewell Officer James Linville Officer Michael Palmiter BIDS - PARKING METER DEPARTMENT This being the date set for receiving sealed bids for a vehicle for the Parking meter Department, and no bids having been received, the Supervisor of the Parking Meter Department, Julius Berta, is now directed to ask for letter bids for the purchase of a vehicle-, BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB STANDARDS DIVISION Mr. Richard Liszewski, Director, was present and matters pertaining to his department were discussed.
