[242 <br />March 20, 1972 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened <br />at 9:30 A.M. on Monday,. March 20, 1972. Ali members were present. <br />Minutes of the last meeting were read and reviewed. <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />A notice from the Board of Zoning Appeals was presented to the Board <br />relative to the construction of a warehouse across the street from <br />Fire Station #11. The Clerk was directed to notify Chief Bland <br />to examine the matter and, if in his opinion he -deemed it advis- <br />able, to attend the meeting, <br />I.F.A. CONVENTION PARADE <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the 'Board approved the <br />requeste.*f the Fire Chief for' the International Firefighter's <br />Association to Mid a parade with their convention, withzthe <br />recommendation that 'the Chief check with the Urban Redevelopment <br />Commission`to make sure ail the streets on the route will be open <br />to traffic. <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Applications for the South Bend Police Department were ordered <br />filed for the following: <br />David Michael Beaty Dennis Thomas Dulcet <br />Elwood Allen Mayes John Michael Keb <br />Raymond Ernest Kruszewski Carl Francis Pemberton <br />Francis Raynor Spreeman Jake Thomas, Jr. <br />James Dean Vance, Jr. 1 Michaei Vuckovich <br />And sent to the Personnel office. <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB STANDARDS DIVISION <br />Mr. Richard Llszewski, Sob -Standards Director, was present and matters <br />pertaining to his department were discussed. <br />2410-2412 West Ford Street This matter was continued to this date. - <br />Mr. Gene Arnett, owner of the property, appeared before the Board`to <br />request a ninety day extension of time to rehabilitate the property. <br />Mr. Walter Kopczynski, 832 S. Greenview Avenue, South Bend, appeared <br />before the Board to remonstrate against an extension. Mr. Kopczynski <br />stated that the property inquestion was in hazardous condition, that <br />children played in it and the doors and windows were open. Mr. <br />Liszewski informed the Board that this matter had been going on for a <br />period of years. On the basis of ali the information, upon motion <br />made, seconded and carried, Mr. Liszewski was authorized to seek bids <br />for the demolition of the structure at 2410-2412 W. Ford Street. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board granted permission <br />to Mr. Liszewski to request the owners of the following properties to <br />appear before the Board to show cause why demoliti6n should not take <br />place: <br />213-215 S.
