[242 March 20, 1972 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened at 9:30 A.M. on Monday,. March 20, 1972. Ali members were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and reviewed. FIRE DEPARTMENT A notice from the Board of Zoning Appeals was presented to the Board relative to the construction of a warehouse across the street from Fire Station #11. The Clerk was directed to notify Chief Bland to examine the matter and, if in his opinion he -deemed it advis- able, to attend the meeting, I.F.A. CONVENTION PARADE Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the 'Board approved the requeste.*f the Fire Chief for' the International Firefighter's Association to Mid a parade with their convention, withzthe recommendation that 'the Chief check with the Urban Redevelopment Commission`to make sure ail the streets on the route will be open to traffic. POLICE DEPARTMENT Applications for the South Bend Police Department were ordered filed for the following: David Michael Beaty Dennis Thomas Dulcet Elwood Allen Mayes John Michael Keb Raymond Ernest Kruszewski Carl Francis Pemberton Francis Raynor Spreeman Jake Thomas, Jr. James Dean Vance, Jr. 1 Michaei Vuckovich And sent to the Personnel office. BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB STANDARDS DIVISION Mr. Richard Llszewski, Sob -Standards Director, was present and matters pertaining to his department were discussed. 2410-2412 West Ford Street This matter was continued to this date. - Mr. Gene Arnett, owner of the property, appeared before the Board`to request a ninety day extension of time to rehabilitate the property. Mr. Walter Kopczynski, 832 S. Greenview Avenue, South Bend, appeared before the Board to remonstrate against an extension. Mr. Kopczynski stated that the property inquestion was in hazardous condition, that children played in it and the doors and windows were open. Mr. Liszewski informed the Board that this matter had been going on for a period of years. On the basis of ali the information, upon motion made, seconded and carried, Mr. Liszewski was authorized to seek bids for the demolition of the structure at 2410-2412 W. Ford Street. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board granted permission to Mr. Liszewski to request the owners of the following properties to appear before the Board to show cause why demoliti6n should not take place: 213-215 S. Chestnut Street George Gandy,Sr.'& Elizabeth Gandy 621 Columbia Street Charles W. & Tennie Barnettex 706 S. Fellows Street Emma J. Nash 732 & 742-44 LincoinWay E.
