�o 3/13/72 March 9, 1972 Board of Public Works and 'Safety City of South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: The Redevelopment Commission has taken"over the parcel of land on the Southeast`'aorner of`Jefferson Blvd.` and"St. Joseph Street. Mr Harrison Miller and Rev.'Billy Kirk are willing to lease this band to Ithe city for $10.00 per month. This lot is rented by the St. Joseph Bank and Trust Company on a flat lease basis, 20 spaces at $i2.00 each Per month. They have leased this from a`private owner'for the last year, and the Bank Is willing to pay us for this lot. There will be absolutely no maintenance on the iot with the exception, of course, of snow re- moval and I suggest that we do leaselthe lovand get this revenue from the St. Hoseph Bank who will use it exclusively for their own employees This will not hurt ourrevenue from the Jefferson -St. Joe ramp in any way. If you wiii give me your approval, i will collect from the bank starting March 1, and request that the Legal Department draw up a lease with the Redevelopment Commission as they do on other flat lots. March 10, 1972 Board of Publid Safety City of South Bend South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen; As you know, we are operating Lot No. 2 under a lease from the Redevelopment Commission at the southeast corner of LaSalle and Michigan Streets and In the first two weeks of operation, we have only collected $34.00 because this lot is uneanned and we are finding out that over one-half of the cars are parked without putting money in the box. Mr. Richard Russell, Manager of the LaSalle Motor Inn, now pperates the lot next to the hotel which was formerly owned by Bitl Sheehan. On this lot he parks his guests plus regular customers with a manned attendant on the lot at ail times. 1 would like to enter an agreement with them to man out tot also which is across the street from the hotel with this some attendant, and raise the price of the fee from 50 to 60 cents and at the end of each month Mr. Russell would give us an accounting and we would split the parking fee fifty-fifty. I am sure that with an attendant on this lot both day and night, we will realize a greater profit than under the present operation. If you are will- ing to go along with me on this, I request that Mr. Sweeney write up a form of agreement with the La Salle Motor inn to this effect.
