REQUEST TO SELL POPPIES_-„BENDIX AVIATION AUXILIARY UNIT1UNO, 284 Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously:carried the Board granted permission to the Bendix Aviation Auxiliary Unit #284 to sell Poppies on the public sidewalks of the City of South Bend on May 19th and 20th, 1972. t4ARCH OF DIMES — WALK-A-THON The following letter'wos presented to the Board: March 3, 1972 Board of Public Works c14 t Freda Noble, Secretary rl County City Building, South Bend, Indiana w U Dear Mrs. Noble: The St. Joseph County Chapter of the March of Dimes is planning the second annual 25 miie Walk -A -Thou from South Bend to Mishawaka and back using the route shown on the enclosed mapl This route has been chosen to provide safety and convenience to the walkers and has been checked for side -of -the -road walking space. The matter was referred to the Engineering Department to check on possible route changes because of construction work, and was continued until the next meeting. ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT - NEW SPECIFICATIONS FOR PUBLIC WORKS Mr. William Richardson, City Engineer, filed the Specifications for Public Works, and upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Specifications for printing and distribution. Mr. Richardson, Mr. Donald Decker, Street Commissioner, and Mr. Fletcher Coleman were authorized to attend a Slurry Seal School in Waco Texas, from March 14 to 17th, without expense to the City. CONTRACTOR'S BOND - VERIFICATION - LEONARD GEANS A Verification Certificate for a Contractor's Bond for Leonard Geans was approved by the Board. STREET LIGHT INSTALLED RIVERSIDE DRIVE BE1WEEN OAKWOOD AND WOODLAWN Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the install- ation of a 7,000 Lumen light an Riverside Drive between Oakwood and Wood Iawn.
