232 March 13, 1972 A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened on. Monday, March 13, 1972 at 9:30 A.M: All members of the Board were present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and reviewed. FIRE DEPARTMENT Chief Bland was present and matters pertaining to his Department were discussed. Chief Bland presented the following letter: March 10, 1972 Board of Public Works and Safety 13th Floor County city Building South Bend, Indiana Honorable Board Members: On Saturday and Sunday, April 29 and 30, 1972 the Fire Chief Mag- azine, Chicago, Illinois, is sponsoring a"High-Rise Firef'igh'ting Seminar for Fire Chiefs and Fire Officers. I believe it would be very beneficial to me as well as to the entire Department to attend this seminar, therefore, I respectfully.request your per- mission to do so. i wi.il appreciate your consideration and approval of this request. Bland, Fire Chief Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the Board granted the request to allow Chief Bland to attend the Seminar. The following letter was presented by the Chief: March 10, 1972 Board of Public Works and Safety 14th Floor County City Building South Bend, Indiana Re: I.F.A. Convention Parade July 30, 1972 Honorable Board Members: On Sunday, July 30, 1972, the Indiana Firefighters Association will be ending their annual convention, which is being held in South Bend. it is respectfully requested of this Board to approve a parade route being sponsored by the Association at 3:00 o'clock p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
